From what I've heard, they are great birds. Aside from noise, what kind of behavioral problems do gc conure owners run into?
Also; any other smaller birds with big personalities that you recommend looking into?

Yeah quakers are awesome little birds . I have three , two green and one blue . The blue are usually smaller . I call them the little green machines with huge personalitiies and also they talk as good as an african grey . two of mine talk .You might want to check one of them out .I love em .

The only quakers I've ever encountered were horribly aggressive, and extremely territorial. Have you ever had this problem with any of yours?

No I have not at all . I have one that was cage aggressive but he is no longer that way . all of my quakers are sweethearts .

I have a young GCC and he thinks he is a Hawk. He goes after my grey every chance he gets and she flies away. He literally attacks her. Otherwise he is a sweet lovie bird.

I just love my little green cheek to bits! Just make sure quakers are legal in your state if you look into one. They are illegal in some states.

Rio she lives in New York they are not illegal in New York . I know they are illegal in some states and in my state of Ohio you must have them wing clipped .

I got my first bird, a GCC, in February. She is awesome! She's feisty and has a mind of her own but she's also cuddly and silly. She's not friends with everyone (in fact, only me) but that's okay. I'm on the lookout for another bird, hoping one will fall into my lap, she has got me hooked!

GCC are very playful so they need toys, activity, and much of your time. My Avian Vet says that the perfect bird owner is rich (costs to take care of), retired (all of the time in the world to devote), and deaf (can't hear the constant noises). Not many of us meet all of those requirements, but as a bird owner since I was 10, I can tell you that a little excess in the time and patience department is needed for these little guys. They are also pretty sensitive to dust particles, so a clean cage is essential to their health.

My GCC had seizures and was a feather plucker sometimes. Spend a good deal of time gettting to know the bird before you jump in and purchase. You want to feel as though you've made the best choice with the information you've gathered on the GCC of your choice.

Other than that, they are the best birds in the world! I have an African Grey who has been with me for 18 years and had a GCC for 3. My GCC quickly became the light of my life.

Good luck!

From my understanding they can have a couple of behavioural problems, first one being some like to chew everything in sight (as I said some, not all), however you can manage this by making sure they have toys they like whilst outside the cage, amongst other ideas some of the more experienced members can suggest. They get easily bored if they don't have enough stimuli, again lots of toys and variety, as they love to play. You will find they will be extra noisy if they are bored. Finally they can be a bit bitey. Sometimes they may just give an odd bite for no reason, but most of the time its due to hormones, pin feathers, or various other issues.
All of the above are possible problems that not every Conure will have and as long as you are willing to put in the time, effort and research they can all be overcome, or at least managed. I hope that helps. They are such a lovely species and fantastic companions.
