Oscar has a new addition to his arsenal of communication tools.

When he bites me - which doesn't happen very often anymore, I have to say - he is the one to shout "OUCH!" (in my voice) while biting. So I don't have to.

Somehow this summarizes his character to me. Helpful, but not much. ;)

I feel your pain!
The Rb yells "OWWWWWW!!!!!" right BEFORE he bites.
If I'm quick, I can avoid the chomp!

Yes, now you mention it, that's exactly what he does. Maybe it's also that I now have more experience reading his mood, so it has become a lot easier to avoid those little jaws of death. The vocalization makes it even easier.

He can bite pretty hard - as most of them can I suppose - but it's cute to see how hard he tries not to. He sometimes goes for my finger, then seems to change his mind halfway in ("oh right, I like this person") and starts nibbling very gently.

The last real "I'm gonna hurt you" bite has been close to a year ago, so I'm certainly not complaining. The risky moments are when he gets startled by something (like a dog barking).

In return, he now lets me grab his beak between my fingers during play, which is a major step I think. He also loves me to gently scratch his throat, which also seems pretty trusting.
