Apollo green cheek conure
So I bought my husband a Gilt gift which was a 5mnth old gcc we named Apollo. I extremely dislike bird and have always been scared of parrots. I knew nothing about them but knew my husband always wanted one. I had the added horror of researching gcc after to find horrible stories about them and that they don't talk which is why my husband wanted a parrot in the first place. Well 2 weeks in the bird decided I was his favorite. He has absolutely stolen my heart. I find myself loving on him constantly and always buying toys. We have gotten so lucky he is an amazing animal he surprises me everyday and doesn't do any of the horrible things that people usually describe. And everyone (including small children) that meet him are in love with him. I'll probably never own another bird cause I don't see one being able to compare to him. Ive been suckered in by a tiny ball of feathers.❤️

The ability for a ball of feathers to steal hearts is legendary! You took a huge risk buying a bird as gift, and it turned out to love you!!

Stereotypes are sometimes but not always true. I've never had a conure but they are well loved and generally fine companions.

Albie was bought as a gift for me (a well researched gift) and I distinctly recall hubby saying that he wants nothing to do with albie, that albie is my responsibility. Well, albie has managed to worm his way into hubby's heart with absolutely adorable antics, cuteness and with his amazing personality and now hubby dotes on albie and is totally head over heels for him.
Albie has us both wrapped around his little toes!

My wife is afraid of birds also! But, she has her Bongo! A GCC.
When at my house, if I take JoJo out, she will hide in another room!

They certainly can talk if you take the time to teach them.
Connie was a neglected little bird,in a home that didnt bother interacting with her.
Since Ive had her shes learnt to say "Gimme a Kiss, Good girl, and Watcha doing. Not to mention all the words she understands, like Night night, when she goes to her sleeping shelf, and All gone, when the treats are finished. They are really intelligent, she never fails to amaze me. Good choice of birdie friend!

Aww, what a cute story! We would love to see pictures of your GCC!

When raised and socialized properly, a lot of parrots can make the greatest of pets and will show you love, too!

It's when they hit puberty that the fun begins!!!!
