Its the waiting thats the hard part.

heh.

x.x If she's unweaned.. I'll prolly be asking plenty of questions; but she's far enough along I think that it won't be that much of an issue?

Oh i totally understand the waiting! IT'S AWFUL! Drives you nuts! Haha. I once had the bird bug (well actually twice..) once for a Green Cheek.. held off until the morning, called.. and it was sold! *cries* I wasn't too pleased.. -_- and then again got the bird bug with a Kakariki.. AND I GOT HIM! He was my bestest best friend ever :D

If she's unweaned.. and you don't have experience in hand-raising little birds, then I would not buy her until she is weaned. SO much can go wrong when they are being handfed.. so much... food going down the wrong way causing suffocation, being fed too much causing sour-crop,.. there's so much.. You also have to make sure they are warm enough, so incubators are needed for hand-raising baby birds. They are so incredibly delicate those little things. One simple thing, like not being quite warm enough can make them sick, and some times they will die. Just letting you know so you don't go ahead with an unweaned baby and then wonder why it's sick (if it got sick).

The Parrotlet is 3 months old.
Thats why I need to talk to the current owner; she needs the bird gone asap; because she has surgery and other medical issues.

And she's the cutest little thing from the pictures.. gah.

At least my bird room is almost done ^^; book shelves are installed; as is the netting to keep the birds away from the shelves; only thing missing are the birds. I have to set up the netting against the bed as well so I can curl up there and read while they fly around.

Its going to be awesome!

Any News???? Waiting like I am the one getting a new baby!!!!

The rehoming fee is rather hi. I'm still hopefully discuss ing the matter. Shes afraid of her baby going to a breeder. If it doesnt work out for me I sent her the link to this forum...mybe someone else can help her out. Either way the baby should find a good home.

How sad :( If I had to rehome my babies money wouldn't even be considered! My only requirement would be the home they were going to be the perfect home... How much is she asking? (Not because I wan't her just wondering)

Do you live close to her? Maybe she could come see your home. We had to do that before we could get our dog from the breeder( I wish more people were like that). If not can you send her pics so she know your not a breeder. If she knows that you think she would lower the price so it goes to a loving home. It kills me when people seem to want money more than happiness for their babies. Best of luck. I must say I feel very excited for you 😊

I don't think its gonna happen :( No response back since really.

I'll keep looking.

I have permission to get another bird at least.

Awwww :( I'm so sorry. Seemed like you really had your heart set on that bird. I hand raised a little ringneck once.. he was my special sweet boy, one of the family. Wouldn't harm a fly. But when he was about 7 months old, his eyes starting dilating and then suddenly not dilated. They'd do it all day... he then suddenly turned on everyone in my family, even my daughter who he loved, and he started attacking his mate (full on attacking.. if we left her with him she'd have been killed). He was apparently fine and nothing was wrong.. so we decided he must've had a screw loose in his head. So we had to sell him.. i didn't want my precious boy sitting there in a cage all alone... no cuddles from people or birds.

One person called me offering $200 for him. He was just a normal blue! O.O But they kept avoiding my questions about what experience they had with birds etc. All they'd tell me is "I really want him."

Then another lady called from a City about 10 hours drive from me, telling me everything about herself, where my boy Howl would be, what she would feed him, that she'd send me updates regularly, and that she'd keep his name, because that's who he is. And she was just plain lovely! I was going to sell him to her for just $20 because she was a tad tight on money... but she had fallen so in love with him that when she put the $20 into my account.. she paid me $110 O.O .. She demanded I keep it and got grouchy when i insisted i refund her. so to keep her happy I kept it haha. I now have about 30 photos of him with her. s soon as she picked my Howl up from the airport, she got into her car, opened his box and let him out.. he hopped straight onto her shoulder and cuddled into her neck... He hasn't bitten her yet.. and she'd had him for about 8 months already! He is now her pet and he loves her house-mates too. She takes him EVERYWHERE with her on a leash and he is back to his normal sweet (but cheeky too) self. I am SO GLAD i sold him to her.. it's so fantastic to see my troubled insane bird back to normal and loving cuddles again! *goes all warm and squishy inside* Anywho.. sort of went off the subject there o_O

But it just shows, if someone who's selling a 'precious' bird of theirs is more interested in the money.. then the bird can't be that precious to them.

But don't give up yet! If you are persistent (in a polite way of course :p) she may see how much you really do love her bird, and perhaps you could offer her a price, reinforced with the knowledge that the bird would be going to a loving forever home with someone who knows how to care for birds, since you already own some. If it doesn't work out however, I'm sure you will find another bird that's perfect for you. I know, it's not THAT bird, but other special family birdy members can and do come along. :)
