Why is link crouching down, putting his belly on his stand and his tail-end in the air? He does this a lot when he's ontop of my dad. (He prefers males to females) Is this a mating thing?

Wow. Good to know Link is a girl and not a boy.. Are they moody / do their temperaments change when they are in this "stage"

They can change temperament wise during hormonal times.

And yes, when she tries to exhibit mating behavior with your dad, it would be a good idea to set her down on a stand or her cage and ignore this behavior until it's over. Don't be mean to her, but don't encourage it either.

If she is sticking her tail up and rubbing herself on your dad, that does sound like female mating behavior. If she is keeping her tail more level and fluttering her wings she is trying to show him how pretty and symmetrical she is. She is saying, "See how perfect I look? I will make you pretty babies."

as roxy says, about discouraging this behaviour, took about a season with nut, but she us still trying it on this season, but not as intense

i never took nut of my man, when she is in her seasonal thing, it causes tension and with the nut an aggressive bite or attack after, as she saw me as a rival, but the good news is, when they come out of season they go back to there normal selves, so that is why it is so important to be patient and not be confrontational with them, when they get this way out, your dad be the best person to discourage her, and if like nut, she'll be trying it on with other males that come to the house

Puck tries to mate (the boy way) with me AND my boyfriend! I think his season is over though, thankfully. I just put him down or put him back on his cage when he does it. In Puck's case though, he kept trying anyways. He didn't get angry about it, but I think some birds do.
