Headache nausea and dizzy. Ace my parakeet is in my room with me. Generally the safest room in the house. Should I avoid him and touching him till I feel better? I can't move him to another room. I don't want to g into why. I just can't.

I try to avoid my birds when I'm sick. I just don't want to chance giving them anything.

I hope you feel better soon.

I didn't think we could pass normal bugs to our birds? Obviously we don't want them to be around us when we're vomiting but otherwise i thought a little interaction was OK?

Some illnesses are zoonotic - which is why humans worry about bird flu, a.k.a. avian influenza. If you do not know what you have, it is best to wear gloves and liit close contact, for both your sakes.

Thanks PetoftheDay. With the headache nausea and vomiting I would say migraine but it could a stomach bug.

Most illnesses are species specific. There are some zoonotic diseases (transmitable between animals/humans), but our more common illnesses are human specific. But even when you're well, I'd keep your saliva away from Ace, as our gram negative bacteria is not good for them. Hope you feel better soon.
