Penelope & Clementine (Peach-faced Lovebirds); RIP Dewey (Budgie)
I'd like to introduce y'all to my newly adopted bird, Dewey (named by previous owner, and subject to change). He's approximately six months old, handfed and tame. Although he has a crippled foot, it doesn't slow him down. He loves head scratches and is just so sweet! I'm in love!

His former owners didn't feel as though they were giving him enough fulfillment. I intend to upgrade his cage after he's settled in here, offer new foods, and give him lots of love. I think he's positively beautiful!

Isn't he a cutie who loves scritches! He looks like he balances just fine with what he has :)

Glad you adopted him!

I am really impressed at how much the previous owners worked with him. They handfed him and handled him constantly for six months.

They would have kept him if their lives hadn't suddenly and substantially changed. We discussed it at length yesterday when I picked him up because I wanted to be sure they were ready to place him in another home, and they thoroughly vetted me (for which I was grateful) before agreeing to allow me to take him.

Currently, he is dining on organic pear, apple, cilantro, snap peas, and grapes in addition to Top's seed and Harrison's super fine pellets. He's nervous but loves to come out and let me hold him and, of course, give lots of scritches!

I'm totally smitten with him and I love that he and I can share our disabilities with each other. They don't really slow us down too much; maybe a little. I can certainly appreciate that he needs a little extra love and care, just as I do. :smile015:

I am so happy that you have each other! As I have stated many times before, Budgie Birds are so underrated  What a sweet little guy he is :D

I have never seen a budgie that likes scritches! SO CUTE!!

Years ago my Mom had an albino budgie that would yell at you if you stopped too soon giving him skritches  ;)
