Two days ago I met one of the loves of my life. His name is Bomber and he's a 35 year old Yellow Naped Amazon. My wife decided that since she has a YNA that I needed one too. So she searched rescues and we found the bird who was waiting for me. He was from a broken home due to a divorce. Dad, who was his owner. left and left his two birds with his ex. She was afraid of them so she fed them and cleaned their cages. But, she had no interaction with them. So, when he met me. it was love at first sight, for both of us. In two days I am totally in love with my new boy. I never thought I could love something as unnecessary as a bird, let alone so quickly. As we sit and he rubs his head against my cheek I get all warm and fuzzy. Now I understand what the fuss is about.

Congrats on finding the right bird!! They really do seem to pick us as much as the other way around. If he's that affectionate so fast after all the changes, it must be a great match.

I raised my zon from a baby, as I was young and not ready to rescue. I thought I wanted a cockatoo but a little runt of an Amazon would stop cuddling with his mates and run to the front of the cage any time I was in the nursery. Almost 15 years later she's still a joy.

Best of luck to you, your new feathered friend, and the entire flock/family!

Congrats ! The right bird makes all the difference, esp with Amazons.

Thank you for doing a rescue!!!! There is such a daunting number if neglected parrots in need of good homes. Welcome! Pictures please!

Such a beautiful story! My BFA is also 35 years old I have had him all of his life, and hope he lives another 35 years! Good luck and congratulations for you and your little green chicken.

It’s not necessary until it’s necessary. Congrats!

My YNA Bill just came to me as well. I'm really feeling lucky to have Bill like me like he does. Seeing Bill get excited when he sees me is a great feeling. I believe having Bill although for only a little more than a month he's made me a more relaxed person. I have always been high strung, Bill has made me calm down, and I feel better now that he has me. Some of the stories on here about birds taking a long time to come around, we're pretty lucky. Glad to read a story that is similar to mine. Very cool to rescue and give a nice life to a living thing and have it give back so much.

Yay congratulations on your new addition!!

So nice to hear a rescue find their perfect home!!
