My mother is the one mostly dealing with the fosters anymore and she brought home a bonded pair of dusky conures from the shelter. She was going to take them back to the shelter because they keep arguing with the foster grey. And while everyone seems to think one or the other conure has potential on his own no one is sure about them together. I've only interacted with them a few times and they haven't been with us very long though have been at the shelter for a few years. So when mother said she was taking them back because of them getting into it with the grey I of course opened my big mouth and said they could stay downstairs in my room.....gah! Someone remind me to keep my mouth shut! So once I clean up the room for a cage today I will have a super annoying pair of bonded conures to socialize.....seriously what's wrong with me.....I will have five conures in my room....I need to be sent for help:32:

LOL, wow you are going to... no longer be bored. Maybe the lady who has 21 birds who posts here can offer you some advice ;)

I knew you were crazy like me!

hahaha
We can soon have a separate "bonded birds" sub forum lol
I hope yours aren't like mine.. if so... get headphones

Lol like I was bored with all the animals I have already! Haha don't think 21 is the top number for personal birds around here. I often watch the shelter when the owners go away so I've cared for a lot of birds at once but it's always different when you can't get away from them after a week. And these two are insanely annoying I'm hoping the good manners of my three rub off on them....if they start teaching my guys to scream though I'll be taking them back to the shelter....but I have noticed them not being quite as bad without the shelter noise to egg them on. Honestly, I'm just glad these two aren't terrified of their own shadow we have had a lot of those type of fosters lately it seems. These two, especially the one, are more likely to run you down than run from you:D

I think we are all crazy here:eek:

Yeah they are annoyingly loud Mango. Plus, they have the whole separation can not happen issue or they act like they are dying. The little one in the pair has liked to mess with me which is probably why I opened my mouth. The first time he flew to my shoulder I told him the second he landed that I would kill him if he even thought about biting while up there...he listened and then he flew over to eat my food last night while arguing with me at the same time. He has some major little conure attitude which is probably why I opened my big mouth:rolleyes:

The only thing I'll be worried about is that I already have my pair of bonded gccs so we will see how that goes of course.

hahaha
Mine were massively annoying too, they screamed non stop for the first few weeks, it was really really bad. I wasn't sure if it would ever get better. But it did :) We are now a little bit over a month in. Sometimes they are so quiet that they get me worried lol and I will call them softly to get a peep back :)
I actually think I just walked in on them doing uhm birdie baby making things  I really hope they are not working on extending the flock :52:

I have four conures in my room, a Jenday, a Sun/ Jenday cross and two GCCs....love them dearly but thank God for my extra strength excededrin migraine tablets! I also have Doobie the Red bellied parrot in there who tells them all to shut up! Lol

I have my supply of that, as well as a fan that runs pretty loud in my room! It's also why I invested in blackout curtains for my whole apartment, so no more 6am squawking!

Well, you must be a very "kindhearted" person! I just couldn't do it. I have 3 and that will be it! But I am very grateful that their are people like you in the world. Have a wonderful day.

My group is generally very quiet. They make noise when they see me waking up in the morning sometimes, when all the doors have been opened and they do laps around the room yelling before settling down, or when I get home and they hear me. You wouldn't even know I owned a cockatoo if I never brought him upstairs or you never went downstairs. If these two upset the general calm of the group I won't keep them down here but for now they are officially settled in.

The setup now....I'm actually thinking of moving the two stackers into this little corner setup once the pair go back to the shelter. The cage in front of the window didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

The little one that has all the conure attitude going on.

For now it's actually pretty quiet....so far...at the moment...hopefully I didn't just jinx myself:52:

ummmm I think I'm being watched.....

Lol I was sitting down in my chair to read and my back was facing the cages. I spun around to see how everyone was doing with the new guys. And I was met with conures staring intensely at me:eek:

Honestly, they appear like a nice pair. I look forward to seeing how this goes for all of you :)

The one is going to be fairly easy but the other one is full of it. The only problem I can see is that most likely I can get them to be good for me but other people might be an issue.

Love the setup. :)

Thanks:D

So far it's going well. No one is arguing with anyone I'm guessing being at the shelter so long made them tolerant of other birds at least. 5 conures and 2 cockatiels in the pics.

So awesome they all get along! and good to see they are already out of the cage. I love your set-up. It will be inspiration for my bird room :) The hanging things and that tree perch :32: :32: :32: (I keep hoping I will see one popping up on craigslist)
Do I spy pineapple GCC's?

We actually got that one and the big one in the kitchen on Craigslist so they do show up occasionally! I have other things to hang up like more boings and cargo net but just haven't gotten around to it.

Yep my female gcc is a pineapple and my male is a turquoise. The other one is my sun conure who still looks like a jenday. Are your guys pineapples?

I reaaaaaally want a turquoise, I love their color!

The male I have is pineapple and the female is normal. Still not sure of names, still considering Pumpkin and Spice lol

I got a normal and a strawberry conure :p :D

Mango, the formerly cinnamon conure is often covered in strawberry mush :D There is strawberry on his cheeks and belly and he has a purple (black berry) beak and feet :p

Haha they do get messy! The female cockatoo in the house currently has pink all over her but mostly on her butt from red dye on a toy. We keep calling her pink butt.

The new foster pair is a little annoying....they need to learn not to scream/talk just because I'm moving around at 2am...oh well hopefully they learn soon. My guys all just sleep right through me moving around or go right back to sleep if I wake them up. Of course they are all used to it by now!

Oh god, I know your pain, if I accidentally set off the Amazons by coughing early in the morning or if I get up to use the bathroom, it's over, they're awake!
