I'm buying more birds!

I've been meticulously thinking about what conures I plan on getting..
My limit is six conures, I currently have a yellow sided gcc, pineapple or cinnamon gcc, and a normal gcc..

I know I want a painted conure, pearly conure, and turquoise conures.

I also know that I want a dusky conure.

I'm at the point that my next conure purchases have to be well thought out, or i'll end up with too many!

I fell in love with a dusky a few months ago, and now i've fallen in love with another dusky.

I had my normal green cheek with me and they were talking to each other through the glass. It was so cute. First the dusky was all calm, docile, and sad looking.. then he saw my conure and they were so interested in each other, I've never seen my conure interested in other birds! hes always been a people-bird which can get very annoying when I'm trying to do things and hes screaming for me.

I'm 100% positive I found the perfect breeder. She has pineapple turquoise gcc, and regular turquoise gcc.. and I want the dusky!

but I also want a painted conure and a pearly.. maybe even a black capped..

but I want the painted, pearly, and black capped as a breeding colony.

I also want a breeding pair of turquoise.



Impulsive and irresponsible of me, I know.. but I take great care of my birds.

I absolutely LOVE my two duskies. I've never owned any birds before I purchased my first one in July. These little guys are packed full of personality! They are cuddly, comical and quite entertaining!

Are those a colour mutation of the GCC?

go with your instincts, and choose the best bird for you and your flock. It's tough to choose when there are so many different types!...I have a crimson belied conure, which I found out is not that common. they are more docile than other conures, but just as funny. not to mention their colours are spectacular,and gets along great with my other birds. good luck and happy hunting!

Cinnamon, Yellowside/Opaline, Turquoise, Fallow, Dilute, Misty and Pied are mutations of the green cheek conure.

Black caps, pearly's and painteds are different species of Pyrrhuras that Green Cheeks also belong to.

Kind of like the difference between sun conures, jendays, gold caps, blue crowns, etc. All Aratinga conures but different species.


I know that black caps also have an opaline mutation.

I've 4. It's a juggle with college and everything, but I give them the time they need. Granted, one dislikes humans but adores me from a distance with her somersaults to get me to laugh, and the other was abandoned, but treats me with "cautious affection"... the other two adore me, as they were only a few months old and not maltreated by anyone else...

I'd love to get a Pionus one day, but that's well into the future. If ever.
