Patrick - Green cheeked Conure, Peggy - Pineapple green cheeked Conure
Hi, I'm Hazel and after years of horse and cat ownership we decided to add some parrots. Peggy and Patrick were hatched on 7th July and joined us last Saturday. Patrick is a green cheeked conure and Peggy is a pineapple green cheeked conure.

They have already settled really well and are learning how to twist us round their little claws. We have got them a nice big flight cage and they have plenty of toys, but they are also coming out to play 3 or 4 times a day. Fortunately I have 2 very keen kids so there is no shortage of helpers.

I've read up about all the dos and don't but I'd be grateful for any advice, no doubt I'll have lots of questions soon!

Welcome aboard, Hazel! Conures are extremely popular for good reason, so Patrick and Peggy are ideal parrot ambassadors. We're always here to assist and answer your questions.

Welcome! Your new additions sound delightful, and so do you!

I'm glad you've started off with some reading. And I'm glad you found us.

In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.

I'm glad you're here!

Welcome to the forum and the world or parrots. Green cheek conures are a very good starter pet. My mom used to breed bird and had a pet store that specialized in birds. cockatiels and green cheek conures are by far my favorites. Those little conures are in the same family as macaws and are like having a tiny little macaw. If you haven't already you will easily fall in love with them. :)

Welcome to you, your family and the flock! Lots of us here have conures, so please ask whatever comes up for you....someone will have experience to share :).

And we expect pictures to be shared of these cuties!

Thanks for the welcomes!

What do you all use to share photos? I uploaded some pics to Amazon but it won't let me share them here :(

I am also a new member and a new Conure owner. Our little guy is about 4 months old and his name is "Rin", short for Mandarin. I have him with me all day while I work from home and I have come to know him as my little squeaky toy, as he chirps all day long. I got him for my 12 yr old daughter and she is so good with him. She calls him her child and the two of them are so funny together. I am learning what he likes and what he doesn't like to eat, but overall, we are so glad to welcome him to our home. We call him a him, but we really don't know what sex he is.

So glad you found the nicest corner of the internet! Can't wait to learn all about your babies and, of course, see some pictures!

Yes indeed, welcome aboard! Already you have seen how easily these little creatures can manipulate you, soon you will be their slaves, mwah ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

(It’s a birdie’s world, you just livin’ in it!!)

The last one is Patrick after his first bath. It amazed me how much he enjoyed it!

Beautiful pics, nice to see Patrick enjoys bathing. Not all fids are cooperative!
