I'm sorry, but I have to say this: Stupid, stupid, stupid man. You went on a whim and acted rashly. Your "supposed" act of kindness is animal abuse, in no uncertain terms.

I wish a muscle bound psycho could take you on a long flight in a helicopter and drop you on a deserted island. All by yourself. No humans. No modern conventions.

Let's set you free.

the ignorance of some people is enough to drive me insane... so stupid and this is what pet stores let happen because they dont care about who buys them as long as they profit:(.

I read the comments from this guy on youtube and he is such a idiot. He thinks these birds will survive. I am sorry they have the wrong enviorment, lack the skills of the wild budgie in Australia, and in New Jersey if alive by winter they will freeze to death. To be honest people that release these birds are as sick as people that will only keep their bird in a cage. I hope you all tell this guy never to get any bird again. I remember showing my green cheek conure my coworkers a coworker said she had a budgie. When she found out I let my bird in the house (ouside of it's cage) and let sit on my shoulder she said she could not stand that (wrong type of person to own a bird). This guy is the wrong type of person to own a bird. He also has alot in common with the people that have caused Florida's reptile and exotic species problem.

and you can hear her saying, "Feed them first, they won't know to come back to the bowl, what, do you think they're smart?" and then "I'm going inside, I'm cold"...WTH??? Does it not occur to them that if a full grown person is cold, the birds will be even colder??? What is WRONG with people???

I am also assuming (not knowing much about wild bird species there) that there are hawks and/ or eagles who will go after them?

His comments are so ignorant - "they won't die. not unless they get eaten by the hawk who flies around here". Preeeeeeeetty big chances of that happening with such brightly coloured, tame birds. By the way he stood over them and scares them, shoved his hands in the cage with them and wouldn't let them come out of their own accord; it's clear he isn't truly interested in the well-being of the birds and is doing it more for his own gratification and pleasure than anything else. Sad.

:mad:i am FUMING mad right now. You don't need to be a philosopher or a expert bird keeper to know that those birds will NEVER survive and fulfill thier life span. It's like having a kid , then feeling bad that you are keeping him so you release him and say " go have fun ! " . That kid will most likely not survive on the streets. There are poisonous trees in the u.s , their life could be over just by pecking at the wrong tree , or searching a neighbors yard and and get attacked by a dog or cat.

It's infuriating to watch his actions and then read his idiotic excuses for them. I want to just reach over and shake him.

I personally think that profiteering organizations like PETA are ENTIRELY to blame for this sort of stupidity. They are constantly telling people that animals need to be wild and free, that fences and cages are cruel. Its extreme and completely insane, but people eat it up like candy.

I don't know what to say. How stupid are they? What a shameful display of ignorance! And that does not even begin to cover it! My prayers & pity are for those poor budgies.

This is really heart breaking!

This was my comment

I am stunned, why would you think this is a good idea? Birds from a pet store are kept at a constant controlled temperature and a 15+ degree change in temperature(such as night time lows) will make them very sick. Did you do any research in parrots at all? Also those birds were not happy to go, they were terrified and running away. You really did a wrong thing, I understand you only wanted to give them "freedom" but all you gave them was death. I hope you reconsider your future impulses.

This really upset me, can't believe people above the age of 10 could think this is a good idea, such ignorance.

That's what I cannot stand about PETA. I'm a former Vegan- (hopefully will be one again soon) and PETA has some ridiculous, outrageous ideals regarding people who have pets.

This is a good example of why I often find it so difficult to respect my own species. Animals would be justified in thinking of us as a plague on the planet, and yet they always have dignity and grace.:green2:

This absolutely broke my heart. 5 sweet little birdies handed a death sentence for no reason. I cannot fathom the reason this guy would choose to do that. I don't for one second believe he cared in any way for those birds, not even a severely misguided kind of cared for them. The rough handling, dumping/shaking them out of the boxes, SCARING/FORCING them out of the cage when they OBVIOUSLY did not want to leave the environment they were used to....those were not the actions of a misguided animal lover. That looked like intentional cruelty and abuse. I hope like hell the animal services in the area investigates and prosecutes this jerk for his actions.

Megan and Phoebe- I have been a vegetarian myself for 14 years, and I also think PETA are a bunch of radical, misguided idiots. They shed a bad light on all animal lovers, while (I believe) intentionally confusing the public about animal welfare. Unfortunately, animals are born into captivity, but you cannot just turn them into the wild and expect them to survive after a life of domestic living. IMO, the people at PETA have to know this, yet they STILL convince unknowledgeable people to release captive bred house pets into the wild, causing potential DEATH to the individual animals due to incompatible climate/environment, or worse, irreversible damage to local ecosystems from the now invasive species that do not belong there. If they truly cared about animals (instead of their pocketbooks and public image) they would not put that kind of misinformation out there.

well said!!!!!

Didnt bother to finish watching. People like this have no business "helping" animals. He should take his crusade and turn it to something more useful like getting himself sterilized.

It would make sense if they were WILD caught, it's been a stuiped common misreception that they can adapt ANYWHERE . Has he ever thought of where they came from ?. It's march here on long island and my budgies stay on their heater 24 /7 . We have a slightly less temperature here since we're surrounded by water. I just get mad at the information out there. I read some websites on birds where it says that you should change the food after every 3 DAYS . Others say that clean the cage every MONTH. What makes me madder is that it's more common in websites regarding smaller birds like budgies and finches .
