Blaze ~ Sun Conure
I've had a couple of moments where Blaze has made me nervous. Falls from the top perch, sudden flutters when outside, just little things. However, I had my biggest scare last night.

My boyfriend and I were on the couch watching a movie. Blaze was eating a bit before bed like she normally does. After a while, I looked at her to see that she was trying to regurgitate something. This has happened before but only briefly. It always got resolved. This time, nothing was coming up. The longer I watched, the more worried I got. Finally, I went to check on her, listened to her breathing, but heard it shallowly. I nearly cried, "She's choking!" to my boyfriend. Once he realized what was happening, we did what we could to help. We're both new bird parents so we almost panicked. But my guy managed to hold her beak open while I dislodged the food with a chopstick. It was just a mushy blockage at the back of her throat so we were able to break it up easily.

I don't know if there was a better way to handle the situation, but I know if we hadn't done anything, Blaze might not have made it. I was terrified to leave her this morning. If something happened again, no one would be home, and I'd be devastated if I came back to find her dead. :(

I am so glad that you were right there! So happy that Blaze is okay:)
