I've had my Catalina Macaw a couple of weeks now and today instead of his usual veggies along with his nuts and pellets for breakfast I decided to give him fruit (orange, lime and banana). It must have been his first time for oranges because he so delicately ran his tongue over the fruit and gently took it with him to the top of his cage door (nope didn't fling half the bowl of fruit onto the bottom of the cage to get to the pieces at the bottom of the bowl). Then he started drinking the juice and turning his head up to swallow what he had already drained into his mandibular. It just amazes me how these big birds that can destroy a piece of wood can delicately peel a piece of orange.

Did he like the lime?:)

I will have to check when I get home I had to leave for work. :(
He normally goes straight for his nut bowl and usually tears it up in the morning but today he went for the orange.

Yup, those guys and gals have precision can openers attached to their pretty faces, don't they? :D

Yes. He still scares me some and I guess it's because I really don't know how hard his bite is.
