Not sure how this works but I didn't feel like making myself something so I made fresh food mix for the birdies... my brain is weird...

The mix has rice as the base and then a cup of goldenfeast Asian Medley cooked, frozen veggie mix, bok choy, prasley, quinoa and steel cut oats.

Folger loves rice so anything with that as a base is tried by him

He has lots of feathers on his back now and if you only glance at him or don't know him well from the back he looks a lot like Ivory now.... so the girl who comes in to clean every other week is in the kitchen and we are in the other room. We hear her go hi Ivory....we glance at each other for a second in confusion....then the

moment and we both go nooooooo don't go near.....don't touch that's Folger....complete panic for a second that she is going to lose a finger or at least some blood. She walks into the living room laughing at us because we had the same reaction and are in the middle of struggling up off the couch and out from under bird toy parts. Luckily she was only saying hi from a distance while she had a drink of her tea!

Kelly thinking about giving it a try but no go so far. He has only eaten broccoli, brussel sprouts and some cauliflower for fresh foods at this point.

My cockatiel boys hogging the food bowels...they do love their fresh food!

That looks awesome! Mine would love a dish like that! Lucky fids!

Looks delicious :32:

Yay, Folger is getting more feathered every time I see him :D

Thanks! I don't know what it is... I am way too lazy to cook for myself but I'll just have random urges to make bird things...us bird people are definitely weird:p

Folger is doing really good overall lately. Skittish but less so then he has been the last few months. He has a full set of flights now!!! He is working on his flying....so far he can do one shaky lap around the room without dropping! He spent all day Thursday on the tree stand without a collar and with minimal supervision and didn't touch his chest once. The most I did was make sure he wasn't about to eat our housekeepers head when she went to vacuum near the stand. He debated for a second but there was no hi or hi Folgies from him so she was safe:rolleyes: He did give Byron, my stepfather, a couple of those when he came home though! I don't know what it is with the birds lately but they all seem to be against him:31:

That's so exciting to hear about Folger's progress! Pretty soon he might not need a collar at all!! Great to hear :D

Folgers reminds me of that evil cockatoo in Rio. I don't remember his name and I don't mean it in a bad way I just love that movie.

Wow! Folger is growing more and more feathers every time you post:) Glad he didn't eat your housekeeper (sounds like he acts like a healthy cockatoo lololol). Does Folger get along with Ivory at all? It looks like he gets along with Kelly at least.

I think its funny that everyone else was happy with your mix except the not-so-jolly green giant there:20: Kelly is NOT impressed by your efforts to feed him a healthy meal. I bet if that was a dish of potato chips and fresh fries he may have react a whole lot better:54:

Folger doesn't really get along with other birds. As long as they don't go near him he doesn't mind them and won't go after them or anything but if they come in his space then you have an issue. He hasn't drawn blood or injuried another bird but he will strike at them to try and get them to go away. Ivory is a big wuss and runs from other birds.... Kelly is kind of like Folger in a slightly more aggressive way towards other birds. Him and Folger seem to like each other to a degree and I trust them to stay on the stand together on their specific branches:)

I've been so proud of Folger lately. I am starting to see some more normal cockatoo behavior. I have to put his basket of foot toys back together multiple times a day, his plastic foraging box once a day and he has shown more interest in his hanging toys though he doesn't go after them with enthusiasm quite yet. We just put together a new mat and hanging ring toy so we will see how he responds to those in the next couple days:D He also seems to calm a lot faster when coming out lately and I am hoping being able to fly and get away will help him feel a lot more confident when out as he becomes a stronger flier!

Kelly loves his calories... bread, pasta, pancakes bring it on but veggies no way the pain... I want to try making veggie pancakes for him but haven't gotten around to it yet! Kelly tends to steal my food that's how I've gotten him to try the veggies he has so far:)

Riddick that looks supper yummy. I live in PA too Mina and I will be right over lol[emoji39]

Its funny how one of our birds will LOVE one certain food or foods, yet the other won't have anything to do with it. So different. But one of many things that makes them so unique. Loved your pictures. Very well cared for birds.
