We found one store who says their baby parakeets are 6-8 weeks old when they recieve them. So we are going to take a look there when the time comes. They said they are not handtamed but being so young we should be able to work with them and tame them.

They also said they clip the baby's wings when they come in but will double check the wings before we bring the baby home.

At that young of age it would probably be impossible to sex them right? We were hoping to get a male but I was told at that young their ceres would all look the same.

theres a way to but its not 100% accurate but it hasn't failed me yet:) "baby budgie boys wear pink!" tha lil boys usually will have a pink cere and tha female could have that but they usually have white with a light blue tint. thats what my female had so the store owners told me she was a boy cause the blue but nope:) i have a family member who breeds budgie's. good luck with your new baby:)

Look closely at the ceres, if there is any white, especially around each nostril, it is probably a female. Males will usually be all pink when they are young.

That seems really young to be clipping their wings already. I have two 7.5 week old babies right now and while they both fly, they haven't mastered their skills quite yet. I try not to clip unless someone asks for them to be but if you are going to, you want to make sure they have learned how to fly well first.

That is how JJ was clipped too the breeder let her fly and figure it out before clipping her wings. Right now they are our best option for getting a baby parakeet. I still want to go check them out before making our final decision.

Thanks for the sexing advice.
