I offended the creature greatly

This morning I plucked the creatures butt:rolleyes: Yup, you read that right. He was lurking about looking goofy with a feather sticking out from his butt region at a wonky angle. He was seemingly oblivious to his situation so I plucked it* He didn't seem to notice what I'd done until he looked up and saw me holding his butt feather. Then he became quite offended about the whole matter, checking himself over to determine where the ill-gotten feather had come from:p I got the full set of amazon "dirty words" noises and some pinning eyes of offense:eek: After offering a bit of walnut, the offending action was quickly forgiven though.

*P.S. It was a feather ready to fall out anyways. I would not pluck a healthy feather not ready to be molted out yet from my bird, but occasionally he gets a feather about to fall out that is just hanging there and I get it for him;)

Hey!!??? that was my butt feather you yoinked on Mama!  Just watch out for those shinny dangly thingies you have hanging from your ears next time mommy dearest!

Removing a tangling tail feather or any feather in that regard and without permission! That is an offense if there ever was one!

Clearly, you know the going rate for such an offense and quickly did so prior to being reported!!!

As stated above, there will likely be additional penalties to be paid!

Basic Reality: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished! :D

How dare you yank a dangling butt feather? Indeed you have offended the creature! I fear for your safety, April.

Quakers seldom let wonky feathers hang around, Poppy on the other hand will wear a loose feather for days, if the opportunity presents itself, I remove it for her, then I run.

Hey, he spent the morning wandering around with a feather dangling off his butt and it was just too tempting to not pull it when I got the chance:D It was one of those medium-ish feathers under the tail too, a true butt feather and he was none too amused I'd removed it for him. I'm just waiting on the delayed retaliation for my crimes:rolleyes:

But Poppy would NEVER bite... right???:D:21::white1:

Riiiight! Haha, Poppy is really not a biter, she likes to take the passive aggressive approach to punish me, glaring at me while kicking her foot like a chicken, ranting Too gibberish, dumping her food and looking for things that aren't hers to destroy.

I've been tempted to do that myself. If the bird is too protective, I'll wait and it usually comes out on its own but, I have also plucked bothersome ones that were bent and obviously bothering the bird. I think it will get over it very quickly. It probably knew that it was a bothersome one and that he prefers being without it.:01:

April, did you ferociously scrub your hands, mindful of the extraordinarily vile and microscopically thriving region of Kiwi? :D

I did the same thing for my CAG, one of her red butt feathers was loose and i plugged it. She didn't notice it too when it happened but when she saw i was holding her red butt feather he stared me down for over an hour. She has a little "table perch" on our living room table, she flied there and just stared me while i was working on the sofa, she never does that :p

A butt feather germs? Pshhhh... I'm sure I've (accidentally) stuck my hands in and/or stepped in worse than a loose feather hailing from that general region of his anatomy on more than a single occasion:26: (I do wash my hands after contact with poo). I also am always sure to spray his undercarriage (wing pits too!) with the mister during his weekly soaked to the bone bath:p He's got to be one of the cleanest parrots out there TBH. No part goes unwashed:D

I just wait for clark to preen out a bad feather, then when he's chewing on it we play "gimme the feather". I try to take the feather, issue commands but he won't give it up. I can grab it but with his superior strength he pulls it back away from my grip. If I do manage to get it from him, he comes after it and takes it back. Later after I stop playing, he just gets bored and drops it. Good times....also I hope your amazon gets over it expeditiously.

Those are really nice for craft projects. :) Very fluffy and a beautiful shade of light green...no wonder you had to pull it.

The Ownership thing maybe playing some role in this 'offense.' The 'its mine' because I owned it! 'Its mine' because you currently have it and even worst, paying attention to it! etc, etc, etc....

I do keep wing and tail feathers in a vase, other feathers... well maybe I could start keeping them and make me a cruelty free exotic down pillow  My mom has a trash bag (maybe more than one) of parrot wing and tail feathers she doesn't know what to do with either.

Probably bit of that at play, but I did it when he wasn't looking and he didn't notice and he doesn't like to be decieved:p He gets even more offended when I get a big wing or tail feather which are large enough I feel my fingers are at a safe enough distance for tickling him with his own feather:eek::mad::D

I could never throw away Gabby's prettiest feathers. I have tons of them, many of which I used in craft projects. I would like to sell some of these to help pay for Kizzy's upkeep, but it's hard to part with any of Gabby's feathers now that I know there will be no more such gifts from him. Yes, Kizzy's wing and tail feathers are similar, but in no way is she a "replacement" for Gabby. Especially not in that way.

When Gabby misbehaved, I jokingly threatened to "make another bird" out of the ubiquitous down feathers (still finding those everywhere) and gorgeous tail and flight feathers. Instead, I'll make more crafts and store the rest in a safe place. I keep putting that off because it's painful. It should be done before something happens to them.

Here are a few samples of crafts using Gabby's naturally-moulted feathers:

I saved a lot of those fluffy light green tail coverts (butt feathers), but I haven't found the right project for them, yet. They need a contrasting feather to make them really pop, but yeah, they are really nice. If Kizzy had one ready to fall out, I'd totally snag it, both for her good and because I really like those particular feathers. :)

For closure, I think it might be a good idea to wait until Kizzy moults and combine feathers from both her and Gabby. Maybe that will make it easier to look at his moulted feathers and either use them or put them someplace safe.

Do you have any videos of ranting 'too gibberish? It's seriously funny when they do that.

Beautiful crafts with Gabby's feathers, Ladyhawk! I have debated doing similar, but then what would I do with them? I've had good luck on eBay selling used and vintage items, but never been able to sell handmade items anywhere online. I probably just don't have the skills necessary for others to actually want to purchase my crafts:p Yours look great though! Once Miss Kizzy starts loosing some feathers, perhaps you can craft with her pretty feathers and sell them:)
