I seriously never cease to be amazed at how smart Parrots are! This morning I did something stupid, I went to put some pellets in Puffs cage and instead of doing it the way I usually do by taking the bowl out and putting them in the bowl and sliding it back into the cage I was running late for work and took the plastic container over to the cage and as I opened it it made a noise that startled him and he lunged at the container and bit me.

Naturally I "OUCHED" and he looked at me and said " Naughty little bird Puffin don't bite!" and I said " yes you are!" he then looked at me again and said " sorry mum, I love you mum". I was gobsmacked, how do they just know to say the right thing at the right time! Then if that wasn't enough as I was leaving he said " Bye love". When I came home I walked in the door and said what I always say " Mummy's home" and his reply is "Party time" but he didn't say it in fact he didn't say a word! I was telling my husband what had happened this morning and as soon as I had finished Puff says " I am sorry Mum" I hate to think he was thinking about it all day but just the way he was when I got home it is really like he was. I made sure we spent lots of time with him tonight and he was back to his chatty self but gee it made me think.

Wow, they really are clever haha. Love hearing how parrots seem to say the right thing at the right time!

That is incredible! They are so dang smart!!! I too am amazed every day!!

I would make sure to bring home a toy to make up for your morning mishap !
Just to make sure you two are "ok" .
That is really funny , OMG ! I think that would make me feel uncomfortable !!
He seems to be wanting to make YOU think about what YOU have done , instead of the other way around , lolol. They can sure make us feel foolish sometimes , lol.

that is adorable

My JoJo is like that, we couldn't help but laugh. When one of the birds flop to the floor he would go weeeeeee.... if I drop something, he would say uh oh....then he calls me by mommie, mommie mommie come here, I love you! He turns his cheek towards me for a kiss and make a kissing sound. He never cease to amaze me how smart he is. Along with my other birds.

They sure are bright creatures! I would call Amigo, "NOT pet of the day" today. My oldest son came over, pulled something out of the fridge, went to sit on the deck. His back was to Amigo, at least 150' away. I was in the living room thinking, O.K., my kid's gonna be safe out there, right? WRONG!! I saw it come down through the living room window...Amigo flew right to his shoulder. I yelled at my son, "DON'T MOVE"! My son couldn't help himself, (he's been jumped by Amigo before), he jumped up, danced around, got Amigo gripping tighter, finally moved Amigo off, without blood shed, thankfully.

Amigo got put in his cage after that spectacle. Again, I, also, never cease to be amazed. It's now known as the Amigo dance! I've decided to just lock this bird up when people are visiting, just to avoid mishaps.

It's my poor cats I feel sorry for, I am sure Puffin tortures them when we are away from home. He calls them like we do when it is meal times and he waits until they are eating and then goes " Oi, whinny outside!" Or "Snoop, don't do that, get down" and he sounds just like me! The poor cats look bewildered because they haven't done anything wrong but do what he says and I swear Puff laughs!
