He has been gone a year today. Y'all are the only ones who would understand how much I miss my boy. He was truly my heart bird.
I am no poet, but wanted to write a tribute to my sweet baby..

I can't believe you have been gone a year,
I still see you everywhere.
The other birds talk but it's your voice I hear,
but you're gone, and it isn't fair.

The first time we met, you bit me so hard,
and your attitude stole my heart.
At that moment I let down my guard,
never dreaming we so soon would part.

With each feather plucked, I loved you more,
You were perfect in my eyes.
I'm so glad I didn't know the pain in store,
of the agony when a heart bird dies.

Dear Phoe, I miss you, you were everything
You took my heart when you left.
I picture you with newly feathered wings,
but today I still feel bereft.

Tomorrow I will once again remember,
You in your bald glory so bold.
But always on this day in December,
I'll grieve for your story left untold.

In my heart you live on, today and forever,
Loving you was so worth the pain.
We have a bond not even death can sever,
and someday we'll be together again.

I'm so sorry my friend!!

It is indeed a beautiful tribute to your sweet boy....

Thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt feelings with us.

A beautiful tribute. A love we can feel.
I too missed my Burt the Bird very much today, she was very much on my mind , though not the anniversary of her passing. More of a regrets I didn't do more, that I didn't know more

Laura, I also have so many regrets. I'm so sorry for your loss of Burt, and the regrets that make it so much harder.
My heart goes out to you with a shared pain, my Friend.

You love Phoe, still, always, always will.

That tribute almost stopped my heart. I couldn't have written anything better for my Rickeybird. The bird-person bond can be like no other on Earth, can it?

Thank you, Terry. *I* love *YOU*.

Gail, I love you too. And Phoe will always be part yours. You gave me such a wonderful gift in creating my Phoe art, and the fact that you fell in love with him during that process.
There are no words to say how much that means to me. I do have to say that your tributes to the Rb are so much more eloquent, but I appreciate your sentiment, my Friend.

Phoe had a most wonderful life thanks to you, I would love to have seen him and Jax running amok together. I pray that Phoe and Laura's Burt the Bird and my baby Baci and all the other precious ones we have lost are all having the time of their lives merrily playing together somewhere beyond the Rainbow Bridge and that one day we get to see them again. I *have* to believe this because anything else is just too damned painful.

Godspeed Phoe, you sure were a beloved and special little birdie :smile015:

I can see them all together, having fun while waiting for us to arrive. We will have such a wonderful reunion, Baci, Phoe and Burt introducing us all.
This thought makes me smile. Thank you for this image I have in my head. I find it so comforting:)

Thank you for your grace in sharing your post with me. And for your depth in understanding the regrets are so painful. I posted earlier today that my time spent answering posts and trying to help and support people and parrots, is time spent in dedication to Burt The Bird. Who's name is still heard in the house by her freind Ta-dah speaking it. And will live on as the quakers have picked it up from Ta-dah. I must honor Ta-dahs greif as well, i got to witness her emotional pain.

And to Phoe, and Baci, and all the others we lost. Thank you for letting us share our pain with you. Tears poored down my face as I read your poem, others support, and others loss. It made me feel better to know I cried with others who understands... Thank you for letting me share with you. Big big hugs to you

Edit: our parrots empathy..I just got Ta-dah out for cuddles, she said " I love you Burt the Bird" she knows, I know she knows I'm thinking of her.sge doesn't often speak her name...and I haven't heard her say I love you Burt The Bird before.. more tears ... Healing tears I think

Sending hugs right back to you, Laura. I am so thankful for you and for Burt, who will also live on as Phoe does. I believe they are waiting for us beyond the rainbow bridge, and what an amazing reunion that will be.

I want to send a special thank you to Gail for the phone call today. You made me laugh, and brightened my day, and I love you:)

One of the joys of being part of Parrot Forum is the understanding of the special bond that our feathered family members have with us. Shared across the expanse of this World. Or, better said, the shared knowledge of our Love for them: Then, Now and Forever!

Huge, Warm, Amazon Feather Hugs My Friend!
And for everyone else that Understands this Special, Forever Bond!

So true, Steven. It is so comforting to be able to share with people who get it, who understand the pain of losing a beloved family member.

What a magnificent tribute, Terry. Your love for Phoe deeply resonates, his memories live in your mind and heart. Huge hugs My Friend.

Terr, this was such a beautiful tribute. You've captured so eloquently what so many of us have felt upon losing a heart-bird. Thank you so much for sharing this tribute with us.

Phoe was truly a special bird. That comes across both in this poem and in all else you've ever written about him. But I take solace knowing he's joined my Bixby and Suzie in the Eternal Flock that flies forever beyond the Rainbow Bridge.

Love ya, Terr! Sending hugs your way.

I must admit that I am not a bird person, or at least I didn't start out that way, but I'm really starting to get it. I was a little confused at first, maybe even a little jealous or excluded or something like that. The missus and her "little friend" have been a mystery to me until I stared participating here. At first, I seriously did feel as if I were crashing a party (lol, LaManuka, thank you for the phrase!). I really looked at him like an object, with no redeeming characteristics. Oh I still don't like the little guy, and the feeling is mutual, but I look at him in a different way, a bit like he is a nasty-tempered little fellow being, but a fellow being, if that makes any sense. A fellow being. Reading this thread really got to me. I have genuine respect for what you feel and I even feel it myself, Terry. You have a great bunch of friends here, and I feel included, which is nice. And Gaily my darling, I'm glad you got me involved.

Thanks everybody. May 2020 be good to us.
