Bonnie and Clyde, Umbrella 'Toos, and BoozieToo, a double yellow Amazon. RIP Boozie, Blue crowned mealy Amazon
But they make me appreciate the effort it took to win Boozie's devotion. Boozie doesn't just give away her love and trust. I was amazed that the cockatoos instantly offered their necks and allowed their heads to be touched. Boozie is just getting to the point where She will snuggle up to my face. Amazons are worth the effort. And their screams are mild by comparison.

Cockatoo's are needy..Amazon's...ehhhh.....not so much. 'Too's thrive on attention, loveys, being with you constantly, and sometimes that can turn into behavioral problems, where the 'too gets so demanding, and the parront gets frustrated having this white creature hanging from them,on them, then finally says "enough is enough".
The 'too gets put back in his or her house for a time, and that's when it starts..plucking,screaming,etc etc. That's one reason so many too's get sent away,to be rehomed.
That is why setting boundries is so very important with a 'too.

It takes a very special kind of person to be a 'too parront, unfortunately,I wasn't that type of person.

There are ALOT of 'too parronts on this wonderful forum that have "the right stuff" lol and I commend each and every one of them.
Scott should be knighted,a key to the city,for having FIVE beady-eyed mons....errr I mean...goffins :white1::rolleyes:
And K with her Poppy...then we have Stewie and Daisy..and Holly? ( I forget sorry)
Just watch Mr Max TV...I've been following Dan with his M2 Max,for a number of years now,That guy is an awesome parront with Max,extremely devoted, but spends countless hours a day with Max. Anyway..

I applaud you on taking on not ONE,but TWO 'too's.
Mr. Boozie, you have been a member long enough now,and came to the right place. There are so many knowledgeable 'too people here that will guide you, advice you, sympathise with you lol for as long as it takes.

I wish you all the luck!

I made some changes tonight that may make a difference. Actually, they may already have. I moved the 'Toos cage to my former office, which is dark and quiet. They almost immediately went to sleep. They were almost certainly sleepy from last night's debacle.

I kept their play stands out for the day. We will see tomorrow.

Respect! I wish you and your newly adopted pair of umbrellas many happy years together.

In all seriousness, I'm very happy for you and the Toos. I love success stories. I wish I could tell you living with a Too is a joy ride and every day is bliss, but our members are too smart to let me get by with that, my mailbox would be jammed with emails asking me why I would tell such tales. So, the awful truth, my Too is truly one of the sweetest creatures I've ever had the honor of knowing, she waves a foot to be picked up, she loves to be hugged, she tucks her face under my chin and melts my heart. She's messy, she's a picky eater, she goes through toys so fast I can't keep up even when I make them and order them. When she doesn't get what she wants, she throws a world class tantrum, mere humans can't win arguments with Toos, it's pointless to try. Did I say she's loud? The other eight birds in my flock can't compete when Poppy decides to crank up the volume, it's mind bending, loud enough to stop traffic and make your ears bleed. Boundaries, Toos need boundaries for the sanity of all living things that share a Too's habitat. She constantly reminds me that she isn't locked in here with us, we are locked in here with her. That said, Poppy gave up two homes due to chronic screaming, she's been with us four years now and she flock calls morning and evening at a much lower decibel level than the classic jungle call. She constantly pushes the boundaries but she respects them, for instance if she decides extra attention is in order and screams for company, Jack, our African Grey will yell, "stop" and bang his metal measuring cups, Bingo, our Amazon will also get loud and sing his version of, B-I-N-G-O over and over as loud as he can while the quakers, party of three, cry, meow, bark and beg Poppy to use her inside voice, Poppy usually finds the flock's higher volume incredibly amusing and therefore has no need to scream more than once or twice, she often goes to a favorite perch and watches the chaos with interest and there's seldom a need for human intervention. Toos aren't for everyone, that's a given but for some of us, when we find that balance the rewards are greater than the challenge. Enjoy the adventure and please share details and photos.

My great friend and fellow moderator Allee hit all of the high notes and challenges!!

I've found toos to be the highest of high risk/reward parrots. You'll find they hail from a different galaxy than amazons, but the combination will keep you adept at time management, culinary wizardry, and at times test your patience!

Congrats! One thing I might suggest, if you haven't done so already, is get an air purifier to place near Boozie's cage. 'Toos are quite dusty and that dust can really bother the sinuses of the new world parrots. I only have one 'too, and his dust really stuffs up my macaw and one of my amazons. The air purifier makes a huge difference.
