My gosh. I was in tears less than an hour ago. This story has a happy ending, but I need to share with you guys.

When my dad and I went downstairs to give the kākāriki their antibiotics, I did a quick headcount. Immediately, I noticed Noah was missing. At first, I wasn't worried, and just checked all of his usual sleeping spots. He wasn't at any of them, so I checked every platform, dish, perch, toy, and ledge, but I couldn't find him.

So I was growing more worried by the second. I began to panic, and called for my dad to help me find him. We checked the sides of the cages, looked under newspapers, checked every inch of the floor, and checked behind the cages.

I'm calling for him, telling him how sorry I am for not spending as much time with him as I should, and that he's a good boy. Honestly, I was becoming frantic and was crying, praying for him to be alive and not injured. I told him I loved him and that I was going to start spending way more time with him. My dad started asking me if I forgot to put him back in, or if I'd walked outside with him without realizing it. I start bawling, imaging him dead somewhere, or lost and afraid somewhere, all alone, having been abandoned.

I just about have a nervous breakdown while my dad goes to find Mom to help us look for him. Honestly, I thought he was dead. I leave the aviary, searching the basement for my baby, repeating "he's gone", over and over again. I turn to glance at the aviary, when I suddenly see a flash of green! I don't know where he was, but he suddenly flew into the cage.

I have no clue what the heck he'd been doing, but you have no clue how happy I was to see him. I rushed over to him and who flew onto my shoulder. He kept trying to nip Ria while we gave her her medicine, but I put up with him because he was still alive.

Right now I'm sitting on the couch with a towel draped over my head (I cut my hair too short, so he's upset), and he's snuggling on my shoulder with the towel covering him. Oh my gosh, I was so scared! Honestly, I don't think I overlooked anywhere in the aviary. I checked every nook and cranny thrice, as did my dad. I don't know where the heck he was, but I'm just glad he's with me now. On a side note, I ordered a Celltei Pak-o-Bird! We'll be able to spent so much more time together once it arrives!

Deep cleansing breath. Noah is found ( was likely never lost), and he is OK. Keep your promise to him ( spending more time with him).

@ adz1984 LOL, thanks for that. Travis looks as excited as Plum does LOL.

So pleased that Noah was found. I would want to know where his hidey hole is though for peace of mind.

Thanks guys :p. I've had animals "disappear" on me routinely over the years, but nothing like this. Normally, a dog's been locked in a closet, a bird's somehow gotten themself "trapped" behind a cage, Samantha's forced herself behind some books, Rumi's fallen behind a bookshelf, etc. The latter two examples were from before I built the aviary. I'd let them out of the cage to play and I'd sit in the living room for hours, keeping an eye on them. Somehow, they always got themselves into trouble (Samantha was really bad. She'd try to push stacks of CDs on the floor, pull heavy books out, and just cause chaos).

Anyways, like I was saying, I'm always calm when I can't find one of my non-human friends. Either I've totally overlooked them, or they're hiding behind/in something. This time, however, I could not find him at all. The only place he could've been was maybe in this one woven palm tunnel. I thought I checked it, but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. The tunnel's torn apart and isn't all that big, but I guess he might've been in there. But we should've seen him in it. Best theory: an interdimensional portal opened up in the aviary and he wandered into it, disappearing from this plane for several minutes before reappearing in the cage.

I'm so glad you found him. How terrifying! I think you can call Buffy to have that portal closed, right?
