Sunny South Africa !!!
Parrots
African "Grey"
"Mishka"
Male
7 Years old
This morning began as usual I showered then uncovered Mishka,s night cage and gave him lots of kisses.

While blow drying my hair I was having my morning coffee

Mishka chips in and says "mommy is drinking coffee ummmm"

Unfortunately every winter I get chilbains, have have to apply medication on my toes.

While applying the med's Mishka said "mommy is sore"

I replied "mommies toes are sore"

Mishka then said "I want to kiss mommy's sore"

Bless his soul for wanting to kiss my sore

Awww thats amazing, African Greys are just so intelligent. Not to say Cockatoos aren't either, but to have your bird talk to you like that is pretty awesome. Larry always says hello to me when I walk past, Max is learning a few words now, and of course Charlie can't actually talk, but your birds incredible.

I truly and honestly know Mishka understands what he is saying

Cockatoos are great talkers as well, have heard a few that talk amazingly well.

The more you keep talking to your birds, the more words they learn and will eventually began says the words.

You will get there
Just takes a heck of a lot of talking and being repetative, time and patience

Thanks Wendy is was the cutest thing to hear from Mishka.

The chilbains are subsiding at the moment, the swelling has gone down and is not itchy... thank goodness.

When applying the med's this morning Mishka asked me "is mommy still sore?"

I replied "mommy is not sore anymore"

He kept quiet for a while then replied "I want to kiss you mommy" and gave me so many kisses.

Thanks Ravennessa
It's not a lot of work keeping a bigger parrot, just takes proper organizing and sticking to a routine.

That's my problem, I don't do routine... That was one of the reasons when I first found Jacob that I figured he wouldn't be happy with me. However he is getting used to and ok with not having a routine.. Only routine is that most mornings he gets some play time (not all of them, sometimes I sleep in and have to run out the door) before I go to work.. But that can be hit or miss.. Sometimes I just toss the food in and such.. However I always make time for him sometime throughout the day so I guess he's learning.. But I have SOOOO little routine in my life.. Today I got a random client 20 minutes after waking up, a dog training emergency case so out the door I ran, poor Jacob got some food tossed in and that was that.. LOL

You sure have a busy time during the day gosh !!!

Routine is so important for a bird though
When spending time with Jacob make sure it is quality time

Oh I am, whenever I have the chance I bring him with me, or I run him tired. I make him exercise, snuggle, play and do mental stimulation training with him. I let him chase treats all over the room, I make him climb up and down his gym and cage, we work on saying words and I am trying to teach him fetch.. Working him like that makes him fairly tired, and he has grown very good at playing with his toys. So he will not even seek me out that often now when out of cage, he will play with his toys for a bit and giggle, then he comes over to me and snuggles for about 30 minutes, thenw hen he gets over aroused and try too much to feed me and such, then I place him back on his cage let him calm down and then after a while he comes back to me.. No he's still quiet, he eats, he giggles, so I doubt he's depressed.. he looks great.. only thing is blue berries are discoloring his feathers LOL If I notice that he gets depressed or sad that I can't give him what he needs I would do what is right by him.. but no, he is a very low key conure.. Today though he will come with me and the dog to the petstore.. so he will get a big outting. .:)
