I'm new here. I'm an avian student and want to own a bird related business one day. I have a lot of conures. I have a one year old yellow sided male, a two year old cinnamon female, an 8 year old normal male all three are in one cage. I also have a breeder pair of painted conures, a breeder pair of pearly conures, and in the future I plan on having a dusky, a blue crown, and a breeder pair of turquoise. I'm also looking for a triple split female gcc.
I feed zupreems avian entrees with chopped fruits and veggies and their pellet food is soaked in juice. They get golden feast as a snack ontop of the cage and nuts and healthy seed. They get cooked rices, pastas, couscous, and rolled barley for dinner.
I have a passion for conures :)

Welcome to the forum sounds like your birds get a very healthy diet. I also would love to see pictures:)

The green cheeks are pretty obnoxious and sound like squirrels lol.. Especially in the mornings. I joke with my boyfriend that he should feel honored, it's the song of their people!!!
I mostly deal with it by playing cartoons for them or the radio.. They really like guitar music and lady gaga piano version. I do admit that nutriberries work great for shutting them up! I want more. I don't know why or how, but one day!!
Another thing that works well is wood and plenty of it. I used plastic cable ties to fasten wood all over the inside walls of the cages! Instead of screaming, half of the time they are distracted with chewing

Orange juice, how cute! :D

Definitely, glad you found this place! This is one of the best parrot forums on the internet!

Loved ALL your pics, thanks for sharing, but wanted to comment on that one because it's so cute!

And the first image (the trio on the rope perch), I wish I could do that with mine - but two of mine are rescues and dislike the others a little too much for me to try to get them together... :(

Beautiful pictures and beautiful birds. Thanks for sharing. what is the next conure you want?:)

I wanted to be a vet tech but I don't want to work on mammals and in school you dissect cats and dogs and force tubes down alive cat throats.. Sad. So as a vet, I wouldn't get much birdie experience. So I got an associates in applied sciences and majored in ornithology and psittaculture. I live in Anchorage Alaska and go to UAA we have excellent science programs here and hopefully one day I can figure out something fun to do like avian medicine or some sort of avian psychology. Too bad I'm not a little older therefore started earlier, because I'd really like to work on the Maui parrot problem. They are currently in the process of killing thousands of mitred conures there!
I also volunteer with my local Alaska bird club and I sell parrots not only from y private breeders but also through "the parrot place" as an at home dealer. I paid $1200.00 and they provided me with ten parrots a month to sell and "trained" me to be an "authority" aka someone that can help train and work on birds wings and nails, which I already knew.

Oh yea.. Almost forgot.. I also took some online certificates. certified avian specialist through Cornell lab, bird husbandry, and aviculturist through something I found in bird talk. Figured they would help on resumes.
