I don't know how many of you have suffered from migraines before, but I have has severe migraines for the last few weeks, today is the worst.
It's like scarlet knows, and she has been screaming all day for that exact reason. I feel like dying :( my head hurts so much n I keep throwing up, it's gross! Lol
WHY WON'T SHE STOP SCREAMING?! She never does this! It hurts :( I can't ignore this much longer. The further away I get, the louder she gets, I can't escape it! :(

Yes, I have had very bad migraines & all I want to do when they hit is curl up in a little ball & make the world go away! I can understand how Scarlet's screaming can be horrendous & amplified when you have migraines.

I wished I had a solution for you & Scarlet, but all I can do is listen & sympathize with you. The only suggestion I really have is you should try to find out why your migraines have lasted for so long. That is if you don't already know. I always know what brings on mine, but it doesn't keep me from having one when they hit.

Oh, I'm so sorry Brodie that you are suffering with a migraine ... and a screaming parrot at the same time. :(

I haven't had a migraine before but I've had them described to me by a couple friends and it sounds terrible. Do you have anyone who can help with Scarlet? If I lived near you I would be glad to help distract Scarlet.

I get migraines like that all the time to where I go to my room and darken it as much as possible and have as much quiet as I can. Have you considered covering her? Maybe for like 15 mins then pull it off then if she does it again cover her for another 15-20 mins and so on

Covering has never worked with scarlet, it does with my cockatiel though.
Scarlet just gets louder and louder when I cover and she will not stop. :(
She never Really screams much anymore, when she does she normally just wants me, and today I have just slept and walked around like a zombie. I think she must know something is wrong and wants to comfort me or something, I wish she knew it was a headache and the noise doesn't help at all! Lol.
I have dean here who could help, but she doesn't like him going to close to her, we had a bit of an incident with Scarlets beak and deans finger yesterday while he was feeding her. He bled quite a bit and has a pretty big gash on his finger now too lol. She has Ben naughty latley!

I'm sorry Brodie, If I were closer to you I would birdie sit Scarlet so you could rest and recoup. Prays going up that you and Scarlet feel better soon !

I dont know where you live, but if you can get something with codeine and caffeine in it (222's) I know this is the only way to stop my migraines. Dehydration is one of the biggest causes of migraines along with hormonal imbalance and stress. Yoga, meditation and good hydration are suppose to help. Many things will make migraines worse including lights... like the one on your computer.
I would suggest if you can that you see your doctor about recurrent and long lasting migraines. As a neuroscientist I can tell you its not normal to have migraines for several days on end, or on a regular basis. This is also not good for your brain long term, as this is a restriction in the neurons and possible inflammation. There are medications that can be taken at the onset of a migraine to stop them or shorten them. They come with side effects, but youre probably laying in bed suffering anyways.

When Dave was sick and trying to sleep at home, Mango was yelling for him all day. He got really frustrated, and eventually put his play stand next to the bed and removed the toys with bells. Mango actually went to sleep as well on his play stand, he just wanted to be close by. I was pretty annoyed that Dave gave into him, since now its going to be even harder to convince him to be independent when we are home. When youre sick though, and you need to sleep you just have to do whatever you can.

My sister gets really bad migrains too, she throws up and will be very irritable. You should watch the movie fat, sick, and nearly dead. A women with bad migraine does the juicing diet and her migraine go away. My sister did the juiving diet for 10 days and her's are a lot less intense and less common.

Thanks for the responses guys!
I have been to the doctors and they could give me an injection, which I didn't end up needing to have, thank god coz apparently it knocks you out for two days. I can't do that. But then again on Thursday I spent all day in bed, so wouldn't have been much difference I guess.
Turns out I need glasses and I have inherited migraines from my family genes or something. So I just have to deal with them and do whatever I can to ease them. I guess aslong as I don't get them all the time I will be okay.
My sisters all had migraines at my age, they don't get them so much anymore, maybe I will grow out of it too!

What about putting her outside for a little while when your having problems? You'll still hear her inside some, so maybe some ear plugs as well? There are also very high tech ear muffs out there, can be a bit pricey, that block out almost all noise.

I would go visit a friend's house for the day. let the bird screech to an empty house

Migraines are the worst OMG I feel your pain Brodie
My sister suffers terribly as well.
Here in South Africa, the give you a "cocktail" of tablets, many people have had wonderful results.
Hope you feeling better
