Conlan, my little green Demon, has once again made his 'I am your ONLY' act again.

He gets super jealous of my pet rats when I so much as talk to them. He sits in the cage all crouched and noisy until I'm done with them.

The other day a friend bright over her Cockateil, Jake who she's had for years, and we sat on the couches. Conlan kept showing interest in her Tiel so under supervision we let me closer and closer over an hour until they were on the couch preening on another. BUT that all ended when i started petting the Tiel. Conlan chased him off, then a few moments later he was all sweet with Jake. Meanwhile my friend could pretty both at the same time, no issue.

I have a sun Conure baby in weaning and am hoping that eventually within the next 6 months I can place them together. But how do I curb Conlans jealousy without turning him against the other bird?

Foo can get like that if I allow it. (I have pet rats as well)

I completely ignore the hunchy, threatening to fly squacking child when I'm doing other things.

I come back when she is being sweet. Our family tells her she's sweet when she is as well. I can usually tell her to be sweet and she does now, well like 70% of the time anyways.

We've got a baby starling right now who's getting big and learning to fly well now. We've tried to give extra attentions to Foo so that the new baby in house is a good thing. So far, no jealous streak happening.

Did you rescue a wild bird and am raising it?
