Two Cockatiels: Rascal (Geraldine) and his baby brother named Coconut!
I've always owned cockatiels since I was a little kid and have never owned a green cheek conure (GCC) before. I would LOVE to get a GCC but am very concerned it might injure my 3 yr old male tiel. I would never house them in the same cage of course and my tiel is fully flighted and never in his cage when I'm at home... which s pretty much always as I run my business from home.

Does anyone here own a tiel and a GCC? I don't want to be in a situation where I would be forced to keep one bird in a cage while the other bird is out... I'm worried whether it is realistic to safely have a tiel and a GCC in my home in that case? I would be getting a very young GCC baby. Are male GCCs generally more aggressive than female GCCs? I know all birds are different.

We have a female tiel and and GCC. We got Taco (the tiel) when she was around 3 months old and she is a little over two years now. Tiki, the GCC came home at 6+ weeks and is 6 months old now. Tiki loves taco and tries to snuggle with her and regurgitates for her. Taco will tolerate Tiki but will fly away if Tiki gets closer than 3 inches of her. Now, tiki is still young and we don't know how hormones will play in so I would never trust tiki alone with taco if and when he's hormonal. Right now they are good together, but as soon as we notice he's hormonal we will make sure they are not alone together.

They have there own cages that are about 6 inches apart and they keep other company. Tiki is a brat and will sneak in taco's cage to eat her seeds. We don't give seeds daily to tiki, but taco needs seed in her diet 50/50 according to vet.

I think we are lucky and certainly don't think this will be the scenario for everyone as parronts beware you can never be guarantee they will tolerate each other.

I would think that it would be okay if you are getting a young GCC. I have a Sun Conure and 2 cockatiels, a BF Amazon and a U2, but my tiels are still in quarantine. I'm hoping I can have my tiels out at the same time as my SC and U2. However, I can't (at this time anyway) have my BFA out with any of them...she's my bully bird. As you said, each bird is different, but I would think a baby GCC would be fine with a tiel. Constant supervision, of course, and be prepared to schedule separate out of cage time if in the worst case, they don't get along.

Of course it also depends on the birds.

Love your setup Riddick!

Eyeing that stacking cage in the corner!

Those photos are old anymore looks like this now:D

I love the stacking cages! The triple stacker works quite well for all the little ones and the double is a 40x30 so plenty of room for my bigger two. I've been looking at one more addition to my flock and its not going to look as neat with a third cage in the mix if I get him:20:
