So everyone always talks about how hormonal eclectus' can get. And until recently LuLu never really showed much hormonal or breeding behavior. But now everytime I let her out of her cage she tries to run under my couch, she'll squeeze behind the tv stand, she's even started to pick apart my plants and take stems and leaves back to her cage. I'm assuming all of this is nesting behavior, but she's not being as aggressive as I thought she would be at this time. If I call her name she will come out from wherever she's hiding.
So Yesterday I gave her a nestbox (Kinda). She's now taking parts of her foraging toys to her box. Usually I give her all kinds of boxes and paper towel rolls for her to shred, and most times she'll stop playing with them once she gets the food out. Now she will shred until there is nothing left and she'll take every piece to her nest. She's even started taking food in it which I think is very weird. She spends a ton of time in there but she doesn't sleep in it.
Do your birds do anything weird around breeding season, or when they get really hormonal?
