1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
Ok, so I work at a pet store that specializes in parrots. Last week we got a baby slender billed conure in. Slender billed conures are very rare in the pet trade. Oh my goodness gracious, I am in love with this bird. By only the second time I picked him up, I could flip him on his back. He just laid there with his feet in the air and let me kiss his belly! I cradled him like a baby, and he fell asleep, feet in the air, head hanging off my arm. I had just met the bird, and could already do anything with him. When he was sleepy, he just hung his head and fell asleep with his forehead on the floor, he is such a funny, quirky bird! My mom says it's up to my dad, who I haven't asked yet. I just love it already. The thing is, since he's so friendly, he's getting a lot of attention. Im so worried someone will buy him before I can (if I can!). I would never talk them out of it, and I would help them buy it, but I just hope I can buy him first... I was thinking about a yellow collared macaw until someone bought the only nice one there (because I was holding it and they saw how nice he was). He went to a great home with people that truly deserved him, but I don't want this one to be scooped up by someone else too!

Can't you put it on store credit? I know the one pet shop where someone worked they let employee's put pets on credit. I think it was a store credit card, that way if the person quit it was still paid for so the store does not lose money, but if the person does not pay the card it would destroy their credit.

I am sure it might be different, don't know how much they are asking for the bird. I would ask if you could.

I had a bird I wanted to buy snatched away from me. :-( It was going to be our 2nd Conure. It was just going to be a regular green cheeks, but he was one cool guy. :-p It sucked when I saw him gone after I had made so much of an effort to buy him.

Thanks everyone, money isn't the problem though. The owner said I can put a deposit on and work the rest off. I'm just trying to convince my parents to let me get him before someone else does. I'm working there today so I'll get to take him out and play with him. My bird is due for a nail clipping so maybe they can meet each other :)

well, someone bought him. but the owner said he can get me another one :). and i asked my dad, he didn't say no, so its looking good! i think this one will be just as nice, from what i heard they are very sweet and good natured.

Sad... but its good you can get another. I hope he is just as good as the first.

Oh I'm sorry for that but I hope you get a good sweet one like the one at the store! :)

Just got to look at it like he was meant for someone else, and your bird is on the way :)

It's awesome you are able to get to interact with this species!!!!

A local pet store (one which I do not like) has a slender bill as a pet. I *NEVER* see any of the store birds out of their cages, and that's exactly what he is. :( He's also on the lower level of a double stack cage and it's kind of dim down where he's at. I feel sorry for the birds there.

Hi, Ann! I'm not sure if you are still reading replies from this post, but I have been searching for a Slender-Billed Conure for a long time. I had one for many years and they are the best birds EVER! Can you let me know the name of the bird store and the name of your boss? Hopefully, I can do some networking and find a breeder!
