We rehomed him last summer. He's 28 and there is a lot we don't know. We noticed this behavior when ever we were 'discussing topic of the day'. He picked it up from somewhere.

Thanks for the concern, a serious one at that! It is food coloring, my toys come from a trusted source. It washed away in a week or so after a few baths and help from a spray bottle.
