Homer (male GCC) - DOB 1.9.19
Frida (female cockatiel) - DOB 7.2.19 (RIP)
Gus (male quaker) - DOB 7.20.20
So, after getting the news that Frida passed away of a non-communicable, untreatable issue (she passed away about a month ago and I just now got the necropsy), and Homer coming out of his vet visit with a pristine bill of health...

I did the dumbest thing ever. For some reason, instead of home, my car drove itself to a reputable bird shop in my area.

I bought a young quaker parrot...hatched 7/20/20. It's a boy (they DNA test their birds in addition to health testing/screenings).

Currently quarantining in a separate room of the house...trying to think of names. I know exactly what I'm in for, a dear friend of mine has a rescued Quaker and he's a huge jerk. Obviously, it didn't deter me and I fully expect to have a bitey sky pirahna...lol. Don't care. I love him to pieces already.

Awww
There is no reason to think he will be a jerk .
Mine are cage aggressive ( usually starts after a year) but we work around that, away from the cage tgey are loves...loud but loves
They need more attention and out of the cage time and foraging and activities than the two species you have experienced... when unhappy and bored they are prone to screaming and plucking, but with extra work and attention I love them

I hope you two are very happy together. And he has a long happy healthy life. Congratulations

Congratulations, he looks like a darling!

LOL! love him!
Names:

Arnold
Bunburry
Bosco
Bernard
Oscar

LOL!

**Bunbury (from The importance of Being Ernest)--spelled it wrong, but he's got a fun/silly vibe.

I love it, you're prepared for a total jerk sky piranha so anything less is a bonus! That's perfect!! I think there would be far fewer birds in rescues if this is what people were expecting to be taking on when they got a bird rather than the feathered, talking, cuddly, piece of furniture that I think a lot of people unfortunately expect!

He looks gorgeous. Looks like he has such a wee character in the first photo lol. <3

I love the 'instead of home, my car drove itself to the pet shop..." that made me laugh. Can't wait to see more pics of your new guy.

HE IS SO ADORABLE and Gus is PERFECT! Congratulations!!!

Thus far, he is a little bumbling pile of joy. Super sweet. Super happy all the time.

I feel pretty lucky :)
