PRISSY CAN FLY!!!

For those of you who don't know my Prissy she has NO tail feathers at all!!!
Today she just took off and flew about 3 feet. I picked her up thinking finally... she can glide to the floor without just falling. Then she took off and flew across my kitchen (at least 12 feet) Then I decided to see if she could fly to my daughter. I lightly did my hand in an upward motion and she flew to my daughter and landed in her hands. My daughter did the same and she flew back to me. We were laughing and having so much fun! So I did it again and she flew half way turned around and flew back to me!!!

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??? I Thought they couldn't fly much less control a turn with no tail???

Nice surprise huh? :) the tail is mostly for brakes and stabilization, but they can learn to maneuver without it by using more wing. It shouldn't really hamper her flight at all.

I have had her for 10 months so it was a BIG SHOCK! I am so excited for my little faby!!!!

HeeHee that so cute :) now would be the perfect time to learn flight recall while she's still fresh to it all. Check out flight recall videos on YouTube and this forum. Being able to call her to you will make life 100% times easier with a flighted bird. Also, it's a lifeline in case she ever gets loose.

Broken tail feathers don't stop them from flying at all. Now you know she can fly! :)

Way to go Prissy!!!! :D

The ARN that I'm currently fostering doesn't have a tail either, and she can fly, although not well! Not sure why this is, since I haven't examined her wings and she may have been confined to a small cage for many years.
