I have been gone from here for quite awhile, as I lost my dear Ruby to egg binding last May.Please i cant talk about it.

This weekend I found myself with a new ekkie boy ! He lost both of his elderly parents recently. The dad to a stroke then the mom 3 weeks later to a brain tumor. Poor boy plucked himself to grey as he was left alone for a bit. the first day i had him I kept him in a quiet room to himself. Then I brought him out into family area and he begged to get out, so I let him out. He is starved for attention and out of cage time. He has stepped up with time in short intervals. He needs a new name as Pinto just doesnt work with me. any suggestions are welcome as I have just been calling him pretty boy.

He came with his cage, but he only had 2 wood perches that were too large and badly placed. His nails are way overgrown. I have given him new toys which he has explored and chewed on, but he is weary of new perches. I gave him concrete perches.

It will take time, but I need a new name before too much time passes. He is 6 years old, so i was told.

While I don't know you yet, I am glad you found a new boy to share your home. Sad that he lost his familiar home, but wonderful that you were able to pick him up and give him a wonderful new life!

I'm terrible with names. Hopefully someone can give you some great suggestions.

Olly
Gizmo
Charlie
Noodles

He sounds like he has a great owner. I wish you all the best. Hopefully he grows out of his plucking stage!

I always think male ekies should have Irish names because of their color so Sheamus or Patty or Sean or other Gaelic name perhaps. bless you for taking in this Lonely Boy.

Poor little bugger, loosing both family members so close together. I adopted my two, Gizmo and Pebbles. Gizmo settled in quickly, but Pebbles took a long time to trust.

So glad to hear he has found a great home.

Would love to see pictures, even in his grey jumper.

As for names, unfortunately I am hopeless with that...lol

Cheers,

Cameron

Welcome back with your new boy. Are you planing to get him a health check when he's a bit more settled in?

How about "Red" for a name? LOL

Hi Heather! :)

Nice to 'see' you again, and I'm truly so very sorry to hear about Ruby. :(

Many congrats on your new boy!! As I'm truly awful with names, I'll leave that one for others. :32:

Since Ruby was named after a gem stone, I looked up green gem stones. most of them have long weird names but alexandrite and peridot stuck out.
How about Alex or Perry for short?

I like the name Forest (green) and I think Cheers is a good name too. If I could rename my Kiwi to Forest I would but he clearly knows the name Kiwi.

I'm sorry about Ruby and thank you for taking in Pinto.

I'm so glad to see you back, and also that you took this boy in.
I am sure he will thrive in your care:)
Also, I am so very sorry about Ruby.

I'm very sorry you lost Ruby. She was indeed beautiful.

Your rescue of "Pinto" will do wonders for him. Ekkies are wonderful companions. I named my boy "Sasquatch" as he came home in the late stages of weaning and had large feet!

Hi Heather!!!! I so missed you and your wonderful posts! I'm so sorry about Ruby...my heart hurts for you...

As for names, I love the gem idea...Emerald is pretty darn green. I'm so happy your boy found you...I know you will be an amazing mom. My Oliver is 3 1/2 already. My time flies...Lisa
