Jasper has lately been lowering his head for scritches and I was wondering how other people scritch their bird's head? I was just running my finger back and forth over his head, brushing the feathers both ways and a little scritching in the feathers on his neck. It's kinda hard to scritch between those tiny feathers on his head.

i go all out, as if he's a dog. loves it, lol! i don't like how it can cause little gaps on the
feathers though. but as long as he's happy, i'm ok with it.

My Senegal loves having her cheeks rubbed, as well as under her beak. A lot of birds like having there ceres (skin around the beak where the nostrils are) scratched.

Merlin wants it nonstop, lol! At least an hour at a time, several times a day. She likes scritches anywhere on her head and neck. She really likes having the sides of her face rubbed gently and her throat. I even give light finger tip scritches on the very top of her head.

You know you're doing it right if they close their eyes:)

Papito loves when i rub a finger on each side from under or above his eyes down and across the top of his neck, just circles around his eyes, or my thumb and finger right behind his neck. Sometimes i think hes going to fall asleep, but hasnt yet. If hes in a really good mood he lets me start at the top of his head and run clear down his back with his wings.

Merlin has crawled onto my chest and sort of laid down and fallen asleep, lol! And it's hard for me not to fall asleep because petting her is so relaxing for me as well. I usually have to make coffee after our afternoon session or I will fall asleep. I had given up my afternoon coffee until she came to live here:D

Cody LOVES his head scritches! He will turn it upside down and lay the top of his head on your fingers and then scratch his own neck with one foot while we get the top side...toooooooo cute!

My amazon does that. He closes his eyes and pets the side of his head with a foot while I do the top and other side. For anyone who hasn't petted an amazon they have the softest feathers on their heads and necks. It's like having your hand in a pile of fluff.
