This is really an individual bird situation. Some birds adjust better and quicker than others. I think providing toys and even music to keep your bird occupied when you are gone and ensuring you spend a decent amount of quality time with your bird each day, he should adjust pretty well to it. 
The more sudden and dramatic the change, the greater the risk for behavioral and adjustment problems. Just try to ease the change in as least intrusive as possible. 
If you are working those three days in a row, it'll probably be harder than if you have a day of between each where you can spend some time. If you can do it that way, you should have less of a transition problem.
