Hi everyone,
I have recently bought a quaker parrot, about a month ago and I was wondering how to hand tame her. She's just recently learned to eat from my hand (its been just under two weeks now). What I do is, I put my fingers outside her cage in a perch position and then with my other hand I hold treats so she has to step onto my finger in order to get the treat. She manages to step onto my hand however she will only step up if I'm holding a treat otherwise she won't come! Also, she will only come if I'm at a distance. If I take my hand towards her with the treat, she'll try to get away from me. so I wanted to know how to hand tame her so I can take my hands TOWARDS her with the treat WITHOUT HER MOVING AWAY!!! And also how do I get her to step up without using treats?
Thank you very much for any answers
