:green:Hi, can someone help me on getting my bird to trust me. King is 5yrs old & never been trained to do anything other than getting on a stick. His previous owners only took him out of his cage a couple of times. He only had a couple of toys. I adopted King a week ago & since got him many toys, my husband even built him a jungle gym above his cage. I open his door as soon as a wake up & it stays open till 8pm. I talk to him constantly but he shys away whenever I come near him & tries to bite. He does take food from my fingertips. Also he does a few sounds I don't understand. He has a very loud squawking, he paces back & forth & he does this thing with his head by lowering it & slowly rising it with this soft sound. Does anyone know what he is trying to tell me? I'm anxious for him to come to me so I can train him to talk & play :)

One week is much too short to expect major changes in a five-year-old bird's behavior.:green2:

Be calm with him, and give him LOTS of time to get to know you and his new home... It can take a LONG time for a bird to bond with someone!

Give him $20 cash. Tell him theres more where that came from if he plays along...;)
