I posted a thread saying I suspect my new conure is not fully weaned and still very young. he also came to us quite filthy. wanting to give him a bath but not sure how to. should I mist him or pat him with a wet face washer? I dont think he will take to a bowl of water or tap.

When I got our baby she didn't like the bath so I filled up the tub and scooped water on the the first couple of times then I turned on the tub faucet and now she runs to the faucet and gives herself a bath =]

In the wild they get no choices - as soon as they're out of the nest, it's a shower...

My experience is that conures are water crazy! I would just provide a bowl large enough for it to fit and see what it does. If nothing happens after a week or two, try using a plant mister and aim it so the water falls lightly from above the bird. Don't spray it directly at the bird. Make it feel like a very light rain.

Eventually the bird will probably love to bathe. You do have to watch conures (and all birds, but especially conures) from getting into dangerous water. They can drown in a toilet. They have also been known to fly into a boiling pot of water on the stove. Or go into the kitchen sink with dishes that are soaking. It's best not to let them out of their cages when you are cooking or washing dishes. Put toilet lids down when they are out. And if you have an aquarium, make sure it's covered and bird proof.
