How to avoid breeding

Ok so the 2 conures I have well I know the genders and one is a girl & the other a boy! Anyways I'm terrified because I don't know the specific age they are and they bonded so they can't be separated so I was wondering if there is any ways that can prevent or try to prevent breeding? My vet is also looking into it for me but still I'm extremely scared of what happens if they do because I don't know anything about breeding as it's not something I ever planned for!

The general advice seems to be avoid behavior that is likely to induce breeding, i.e. mushy food, excessive affection, nesting materials/areas...failing that I'd say that if nesting behaviors occur anyway, @noodles123 seems to have been named as a resident expert and a search for posts by them on that subject could be helpful, it has been for me!

If they don't have anything that they can use as a nest odds are they won't breed. Those Snug Hut things that I see a LOT of people using on Youtube are a HUGE no no for multiple reasons. Not going to go into the reasons but make sure they are not in the cage with them.

Could you get another cage so they are housed apart when you aren't there to chaperone? So long as they can see and hear each other they shouldn't get too distressed about being apart.

If they do breed you can replace the eggs with dummies and wait for them to lose interest or hard boil and return the eggs. Once they lose interest remove whatever they nested in.

I'm sure there is more to add and someone with more experience will pipe up.

Yep, common sense dictates simply keeping them in separate cages, bonded or not.
