Just curious, how old are your lovebirds?

I've had my pied peach-faced since he was a chick ~15 years ago, and I've read that their lifespan averages anywhere from 10-20 years. I don't mean to be morbid, but I'm wondering how much longer he has left--wikipedia says 10-15 years is the average?

One of my lovebirds is going on 11 (a female) and the other is just turning 2 (a male), both are pets, not a pair. Like you, I'm hoping they live to the far outside of that estimate of 15-20 years. I keep asking my vet each year, and she always says, "I don't know how long they live because most end up having an accident of some sort because they're so darn curious!" I do bird sit a little lovebird for a friend of mine. He's 15 and, although he is slowing down now some (sleeps more and flies less), he still is very healthy and enjoying life. I would love someone to post on here about having a 25-year-old (or older!) lovebird.

my current lovebird female breeder is 2 and my male breeder is 1 & 1/2 and my non breeder lovie is 7-8 months but my friends lovebird lived to be 23 years!

There's average lifespan, expected lifespan and potential lifespan. They are, by no means, the same!

Average lifespan is usually the low end as many birds die at young ages. I would say average lifespan would probably be 4-10, maybe 12 years in age for a lovebird.

Expected lifespan is in the middle... so about 10-20 years, somewhere within that range.

Potential lifespan is the oldest the species has been known to live. I would say this would probably fall within the 25-30 year range, as I don't know the oldest lovebird to have lived.
