How often do you “Rearrange the Furniture”?

Just curious how often everyone else is moving stuff around to keep things interesting? I’ve been doing something like a 25% change one week and the next week maybe up to a 40 or 50% change. I try to move toys, perches, even where Tori eats...though she will definitely let me know when I’ve put something somewhere that she doesn’t approve of! There have been times where i will spend an hour or more agonizing over where to put each individual item before I’m finally pleased with my interior design skills...only to have to put everything back the way it was because Tori didn’t agree with my redecorating job!

I rearrange everything every time I clean Gemma's cage. That would usually be every 2-3 days depending on what toys I gave her to chew and if i have time to clean every day.

Well, I am not in charge of anything in this house, least of all the Bird's assets, so maybe the Missus will be along to comment, but from my point of observation......................
She isn't allowed to change much, certainly nothing substantive. Of course keep in mind that this is an old bird. He is probably set in his ways.
I have heard her remark that he tolerates new perches but they have to be in the same places, same with toys....................... new/different beads or ropes or paper towel rolls or straws but nothing radically different.
A while back, she got a new plastic bouncing ball that made him lose his mind.
Stubborn bird.
But hey, I'm old too and if I ever come home to discover she has moved my Lazyboy to the roof or replaced it with a futon............................ well...........................

I definitely change anytime he's acting hormonal. Then for non-hormonal times, I try to leave his perches where they are since he has that memorised, but I'll switch around his toys every couple of weeks or so. I only touch his perches if he's acting hormonal (it took me so long at first to figure out the optimum layout, so I'm reluctant to change).

It depends on the bird. If you move things around, add, subtract toys to often, it could stress out your bird.

It depends on what's going on in my life. If things are hectic, not much changes, but I do enjoy rearranging if I have the time. I do a deep clean of Jesse's big cage about every other weekend. It gets rolled outside, scrubbed and cleaned, then hosed off and dries out in the sunshine. Perches and stuff with poo on them get a soak and a scrub in the tub, then they're dried outside. That's when I'll go through my bird box (a plastic tub with a lid) and pick out new toys/perches/cage accessories.
His little cage gets cleaned every weekend. Same procedure. I don't put much in that one, usually one hanging toy with wood to chew on, but I will swap out that one for a different one.

Wanted to add that if something new I've ordered comes in, it gets cleaned or put in a ziploc bag and stuck in the freezer for a day. It just depends on what it's made of. But no matter what, I'm like a little kid cause it's hard to wait and I'm so excited to see him play with it.

Yeah, there are certain basics I never rearrange... the main dowel ("highway") down the middle of the cage, the perch on the door, the very highest night-time roosting perch. I replace them but I don't change the locations or basics. They're kinda my bird's Lazyboy items!

Our Amazon requires his approval of the new thing prior to it finding its way into his space. After all, it maybe radioactive!!!
With approval in place, like things can move in and out with little concern.
Major changes are best handled with his involvement. I liken it to my dear Mrs. Boats who loves to switching out and moving them about the house. Understanding that I travel 'alot' and sometime arrive home during the darker hours. After such an arrival and a massive rearranging, I ended up going over a couple of chairs. After that night, whether the Amazons stuff or anything else requires the involvement of all parties!

My conures are pretty flexible and I move things around in their spaces frequently - sometimes weekly. Sometimes a new location makes an ignored toy appealing for my crew. I tend to watch how they use spaces and try to put something they love in a space that they aren’t using..... they all seem to love investigating new things.

My cockatiel, on the other hand, is a bit of a diva and HATES her stuff being moved around. New toys (must look similar to old toys or she won’t go anywhere near them). will sit for weeks untouched until she decides to investigate and then chew them up. I’m very careful about moving her things around, and I never move her perches as she complains very loudly when I do.
