How much does an avian vet checkup cost?

It varies from vet to vet and area to area. call around to the vets around you and they can give you a price estimate.

Depends on what you are having done, and where.
On long island NY, a full medical base line check up, doing blood panels, etc was around $350 at my Avain Vet. But they do their own blood work there. A check up (exam for a specific issue, like nasal discharge ) is around $150 plus cost of meds. Parrots are not inexpensive pets to keep, the smart money puts aside a sum every week to build up a medical slush fund.

We are in Seattle and our costs are similar to Wrench - for a yearly exam with a CBC & fecal it’s around $350. For just a physical exam with a nasal flush or other procedure it’s around $100. His meds are $35-40 and need to be refilled every month or so. He’s on a heart med and a heart & joint supplement. In addition to that, it’s about $250 for x-rays/radiographs and he gets them yearly to check on his heart and his atherosclerosis.

Our other amazon has zero health issues and so we just do the $350/year annual exam with the fecal and blood work. It really depends on the age and health of your bird.

Disease testing depends on the disease, but I think it was $50-100 per test, sometimes less. We had to do some pretty extensive testing for boarding. Nail trims are about $18 and they usually don’t charge a tech or visit fee.

FYI: Prices have or are going up, like the cost of everything else.
Wrench's recommendation of setting 'x' amount aside each week or month is a great idea as it is an important part of have Parrots and should never to a choice as to what the cost will be.
There is Pet insurance, but the numbers do not workout in your favor.
Assure that you are seeing an Avian Professional as their care is a specialty that requires extra training.
