How many species do this?

So I was kinda wondering, who all has a bird that does the fast and furious wing beating? Like when their mad or excited? My QP does it when I'm taking too long to do something he really wants like his breakfast or taking him out of his cage, and my cockatiels (the males) do it when they know it's bedtime, kinda like their throwing a tantrum because they don't get to play anymore . I just wanted to know how many species display this behavior.

Of my 4 quakers, nope they haven't ever.

Parrots are so unique and individual , even in the same species.

Does yours purr? Mine do and I love that .

Does yours squawking when flying? Mine seem to always have to squawk when flying ( not fear or startled flying, just any flying)

Pretty much like that except they all fully extend their wings and it's a lot faster, presumably because their smaller

My quaker is nearly 3 and a half. He purrs when I pet him sometimes but he has to be sleepy lol. He generally is quiet I'd say, half the time he's flying, the other half he screeches all excited. When he flaps his wings really fast, it's always in his cage, he holds onto a perch as tight as he can, flaps his wings as fast as he can, and then usually screams as loud as he can His flapping is almost always an upset display, based on the scream he does with it. When the cockatiels do it just seems like a tantrum over, say, dinner isn't here fast enough!

This is a very common activity across a very wide segment (if not all) Birds /Parrots that use either powder and oil based to allow feathers to slide across each other, whether in the Wild or as Companion. Such a common activity extended into use as a defined behavior would be likely as well.

Interesting! Could be picked up from your cockatiels, and decided this is great! This makes my point! They all love drama. I'll have to make sure mine don't watch a video of!

Yeah in cage screaming and upset flapping display sounds like something a quaker would do

I think mine picked this squawking flight from Penny .

I think either excited or just trying to move around a bit.
Seen it in a female caique and male budgie.
Both flighted.

Bella, flighted does it. Normally indicates excitement and a desire to fly somewhere.

Luna flighted does a much less extreme version of it.

Cheek and Mango bothe hang upside down and gently flap.
I have read that with Tiels this is a show of ownership.
Like saying “this is my cage”

Willow does the wing flapping if I am not paying him enough attention (in his opinion) because I’m reading either a book or on my phone/ tablet) or if I’m moving too slow with dinner or treats. Like “flap flap flap flap ACK ACKACKACK ACK!”.

Lucy would just beak the screen to change it so I had to pay more attention to her and not the tablet or phone.
