I need some way to tell 3 of our 4 birds apart. 3 of them seem to be triplets. Is there anyway to safely mark them?

Please help! :orange:

I've known of some people who will cut the tip off an inconspicuous tail feather to tell birds apart that look the same. This, of course, does work best if they are tame and do not have an issue with you messing with their feathers. I have personally never done this, even when I raised parrotlets. I've always just "known" who was who when it came to my adult birds and my babies were all banded.

:rainbow1: How do you get them banded? Does a vet have to do it? I have actually thought this might be the best bet, if there is a way to put different styles or colors of bands. Thanks for you info, I greatly appreciate it! :green1:

OMG I have wondered if people with identical birds can tell them apart. You know, like identical twins, do parronts learn to distinguish them easily while others can't tell them apart?

As far as banding goes, you would have to use the ones that have a split so you can fit it over the leg them bend the ends together to keep it on their leg. I imagine you can can them easily and probably in different colors. I would say that is a good way to tell them apart! If you are not comfortable doing it, a vet should be able to easily, I know my vet will take bands off, why not also put them on?

I think these are for chickens, and you can write on them it says!

Well we have a hard time telling the 3 of them apart. Yesterday I actually put one of my MILs birds in my cage and vise versa... so Yeah, it's hard. I don't know how parents can tell identical twins apart, especially as babies.. lol.

I will check into the bands and see what I think. Thank you!

I will have to see what I can do. My birds are hand raised and fed :)
