From crying like a baby:confused: he is an excellent mimic my ringtone, the door bell , a dog barking. We were actually watching a movie wherein an orphaned newborn was crying. When he did it the first time we were all amused and got the desired reaction from everybody. Now what we hear is a newborn cry the whole day:eek: he is quite a talker but now it's just cry cry cry:52: any ideas?

Ha Ha Ha, fire truck!, its already a tick off our list.
Actually I did find a solution to the problem . A little cruel but necessary as we were loosing our minds having to hear a baby cry its gut out.
Now Rio is S$$$ scared of a LED toy gun which my girl has .You have to just show it to him and he does the poor bird is dying act complete with the horrible screech. You put it away , he is all normal and will give you a stinky alexandrine stare and you dare not get your fingers next to him at this time or else......
We got the gun out everytime we heard the cry and told him sternly to stop it. He got the idea pretty fast. We still hear the baby cry but its restricted to his morning monologues with his food bowls or his toys.

I am really not sure if it was the right thing to do but at least we have maintained our sanity.

For any unwanted behaviors ignoring them, returning to their cage or just get up and walk out of the room briefly can work. A response can be taken as a reward for the behavior. Sooo glad mine doesn't do this one lol :)

I can imagine the 24/7 baby crying call would be like a living hell but I'm never happy when a threat, even a mild one,is used as a control method.

Fear will be the result of the percieved threat and is a negative energy that may well send your bird scurrying back where it came from in silence but it also repeatedly raises stress levels and may cause long term trust issues that could build into outward aggression from it in return.

I hope everything settles down though.
