So I thought everything was going ok with JJ eating and was talking to the breeder the other day, telling him she has completely shunned the Pretty Bird for Roudybush now. He said that is good but to be careful that she is actually eating the Roudybush and not just grinding it up into powder and not eating as he's heard of birds that don't like eating it just grinding it up.

She is active and going potty good so does that mean she is eating well? I don't have a scale that would be able to weigh her so what are some other ways of knowing if she is eating good and eating enough? She really doesn't eat many treats either, sometimes her birdy bread in the morning and at night she gets 3 nutriberries in her dish that she eats too. We're still working on her eating more healthy human foods right now.

You should not be able to feel the breast bone protruding without meat around it, that's when they're not getting enough.

Invest in a gram scale with a perch. Then you will know exactly if there is any progress. Weigh your bird before eating at the same time every morning.

Jewels, a parrot that isn't eating will not have any faecal material, only white uric acid & a bit of urine. If your conures droppings are of normal size i would think it was eating OK.

Sounds to me all is going along just fine. Sun Conures have huge droppings expecially that first one in the Morning. If you keep an eye one their poop it tells a lot about your birds health.

yeah no she definetely poops. Since she started eating the roudybush her poop is the same color as the roudybush pellets and she poops probably every 15-30 minutes! It looks like normal bird poop. So I figured everything was ok with her eating she is a piggy and eats a lot.

I will look for a scale because I would really like to get one for her, never knew they had one with perches on them.
