I'm not having luck training my new white winged parakeet. Not because he doesn't understand clicker training, but because he's not motivated. He'll half-heartedly train for millet, but he's just not excited. He's not really interested in seeds (a stark contrast to my conure who will do ANYTHING for a sunflower seed.)

Any recommendations for training treats, or times of day for training? I give him pellets after he eats his veggies for lunch - should I wait a few hours between the veggies and the pellets so that he's not so full? He eats a lot - I imagine he's eating until he's full, and then he's not really hungry enough for treats.

Thank you for your suggestions :]

I'm interested as well. My GCC so far has little interest in treats.he's just a baby, but I'm still curious about your thread. Hope you get the answer you need!

My GCC is only interested in lovin' for training, not treats. I've been working on short distance recall training (her wings are clipped so her flight is limited) and she doesn't care about treats. She wants scritches and hugs and dancing to music as a reward.

Not all FIDs are motivated by the same things.

(M'aiq is a a fantastic name by the way. Elder Scrolls, yes?)

From what I have heard it sometimes has to do with them not being hungry
Try to plan some training for before you feed them for the day

Hope this helps, Joe
