How can I sneak Darcy on the train?

Since my car isn't working, I have been taking the train to see my boyfriend on the weekends instead of driving. I like the train, except that there are no pets allowed! They do allow service animals, but from what I gather, getting an animal certified as a service animal in California isn't super easy. Apparently "companion animals" don't count. Well, I'm tired of leaving my baby at home (my mom has him, so he's not alone) on the weekends. My boyfriend misses him too.

I was thinking of trying just putting him in my sweater, and keeping him there for the whole 2 hours. Maybe I could take him into the bathroom sometimes to let him out. Maybe I could sit in a darker cabin, so maybe he'd fall asleep, or at least relax. Maybe I could put him in one of those reusable grocery bags that's sort of stiff, with a towel or something to snuggle (or not). Could I disguise a pet carrier to look like plain luggage? The train ride is about 2 hours each way.

I'm not sure when I am going to have a working car again. It'll probably be at least a few more weeks.

What train line is it? I take the CalTrain(owned by amtrack) a lot to school and out of curiosity asked if I could take my bird on the train in a small carrier(they also have a no pets policy). The conductor said if it's a small carrier it's generally fine, just don't make a big show of whatever you have.

If I were you I would walk over to the train station and ask one of the conductors, or go to the costumer survive counter and ask if you can buy a ticket for your parrot(make sure to mention it will be in a carrier). Even if the people at the counter say no still ask the conductors. And if both say no and you have a quite bird just pretend he's your carry on luggage.

I've been taking Amtrak. I talked to one conductor, and she didn't seem to think it'd fly. =(

My boyfriend has his own house, so I can sleep over. I usually go for a couple of days. Unfortunately, since I moved back in with my mom, I can't have him stay over night. It's about $50 for a round trip, which would end up being only a few hours. He does come up sometimes, but for time/money/effort, it makes more sense for me to go over there on the weekends most of the time. When I lived on my own, he was up all of the time though.

try looking up "pak-o-bird" i seen it in the alexandrine forum. it looks like a back pack. they are not cheap tho. if your bird is quiet, i cant see sneaking him in one of these being a problem. it has perches, and feed dishes aswell as a hook to hang up a toy.
