Besides a half hearted tummy dunk, he hasn't had a, bath since I posted that photo of him. How can I encourage him to Bath more frequently?

His first bath he was more than happy in his water bowl and was soaking me at the same time. I'm worried as he's looking a little grubby, and it not like I can dunk him in the tub like I could with my dog!

Let him hang in the bathroom with you and sit on top of the shower stall/door/rod! Unlikely he will get in, but it may stimulate the thought! They also sell suction perches that stick to the wall or mirror!
I fill a 2 quart dog dish for JoJo’s baths!

Interesting post Stitch, I'm feeling the same about Connie, she does a quick chest dip in her drinking water about twice or three times a week, but wont go near her proper bath which I put in.
Every morning I put it on the draining board, but apart from her giving it a couple of taps with her beak.......nothing!
However a bit of a breakthrough thismorning,I left the tap running gently, turned toward the drainer,so it was really close, and she drank from it,put her foot under it,did some shaking,so Im hoping if we do this routine a few times the penny will drop!

You need to experiment to find what turns them on - so to speak. Syd hates water dripped or sprayed on him. He runs as if he is demented. He loves to watch running water so for a while when he was under 1 yr old I used to hold my hands under a slowly running tap and gradually he would get his feet wet and then look at me.
From that I tried a shallow bowl propped up on an upturned flower pot so it sat fairly high in the sink so I could still run the water and he started to get the idea. He liked it better when the water was running fast enough to make bubbles but slow enough not frighten him. He started to bath.
I had a dog at that time and before I knew it he decided he really like the dogs water bowl, which was pottery with a blue inside. Once he found that he would no longer even look at the sink although he is still fascinated when I run the tap (faucet).
It was easier to give the dog another bowl than keep Syd out so we ended up with him having the dog's bowl in his cage. He waits these days until I tell him to have a bath and off he goes. In Summer he might bath twice in a day, in Winter every 2-3 days. I often put the bowl in and he ignores it but then at other times the bowl is the only thing that stops him screeching. He still has me in training boot camp!
Oh yes I have just remembered, in the early days he used to join me in the bathroom and watch me shower too but showed no inclination.

My shower has unfortunately broke. I did sit him on the mantle piece with his water bowl and dropped some water on him, after a couple of time he actually took a bath x

Look for a garden (flower) misting (spray) bottle. NOTE: It must provide a fine mist into the air, NOT a spray...

The goal is to mist up into the air above your Parrot and allow it to fall from on-high from above. NEVER mist or spray a Parrot in the face!!! By misting into the air above your Parrot you are duplicating the effects of a natural light rain shower.

This will allow your Parrot to become damp and later soaked depending on how long you mist. Note, start with a short mist and build with time as you note whether your Parrot enjoys it.

By the way why u want him to have bath frequently??
Am sure he has not social gatherings ....lolz

Never ever force a parrot for bath,

Put a bowl full of water in front of him, and leave him on his own,

U just throw a little water supray on him very rare if he is not bathing. Nothing else, a forced bath can make him sick

I "accidently" found how to get Mickey to take a bath. He sleeps in the laundry room so when I was filling the washing machine one morning (he could see water pouring in and hear the "waterfall") he got in his water bowl. So, now I put a large casserole dish of water in his cage and every other day he takes a bath! However, just as you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink... the same goes for the bird and bathing!

Sometimes strange things can encourage a bird to take a shower.
Someone on the PF had a bird that would talk a bathe every time the vacuum cleaner was turned on.

Birds.
Are.
Weird.

Oddly enough, the vacuum thing is quite common. My first Amazon did that, without fail, no matter what time of day. The refuge my current two fids came from can't vacuum in the bird room because it triggers so many of them they soak the entire room! Thank goodness for tile floors.

Have you considered a shower perch? Mine love it. They don't want the direct shower so much, but love the misty stuff that bounces off my shoulders. It kind of gives them the choice if they want a good soaking or just a quick mist.

This is what I do. II just spray it over their cages, if I suspect they want a bath. If I think they need bath but not sure they Want it I limit spray to one area of cage, make sure they got a tiny bit of it so that they know it’s there and then spray it near them so they can choose whether to get rained on or not. Usually they decide it’s just what they wanted. But if after a few minutes they continue to avoid the spray instead of seek it out, then I wait till the next day.

Definitely go with the fine mist sprayer from above if you are concerned that he needs bathing. (I got mine from Sally beauty supply, superfine mist.)

(My budgies will bathe themselves. They use their water dishes for swimming pools whenever they feel like it, and any time I spray them also. However my Sunny almost never bathes her self. If she feels the need to get wet she stands over her smallest most inconvenient water dish, pretend-splashes & flaps her wings, and yells until I get the spray bottle.)
