how bad is a sennie's agression

I'm not asking for me as I am the parent to a blue front zon but without any training how bad can sennie's be I know how bad they can be but my mother thinks different so any Senegal owners who can say different please give me your in sight so i can give my mother this info

Trying to figure out how most senegals behave really isn't going to be doing you or the buird any favors. Birds really are ALL different, I've dealt with tons of birds of the same species, even with the exact same background and they still all act differently and respond uniquely to the same situations. The best thing you can do is go into it with an open mind and a clean slate and see how the bird reacts to different things and go from there.
Also try to keep in mind that parrots are not domesticated animals, I don't mean to sound harsh, and I'm not talking about anyone inparticular here, but I hate when people get birds and then say things like, "this bird was sold to me as being tame but he's not!". Parrots really dont become tame in my mind. They may be bonded to humans and enjoy interacting with people but that doesn't mean they are going to like everyone all the time. You will get bit, your bird will scream occasionally and some days are definitely better than others but that's kind of what living with parrots is all about.

I have a very fiesty Senegal, she will bite and draws blood if she doesn't get her own way. She also is a screamer. She is 19 years old and we've had her since she was a baby. She can also be very sweet if she wants to be. I know 3 other people who have Senegals that are nothing like mine. Their's are quiet and gentle. I finally met someone else with a Senegal like mine a few weeks ago. When my husband told her we had a Sennie she said "So you have a bird from hell too!" I laughed cause I thought we had the only one! I really think the difference is a male/female thing. Like lovebirds I think the females are just more territorial, protective and loud. We have a female lovebird too!

I have a male sennie named Snoopy. Snoopy has been a wonderful addition to my life. I compare sennies to dogs. They are very loyal and protective of their owners. You do have to beware they are very one person birds and they do not like to share you with other birds. If Snoopy is on my shoulder and if sees that I am giving too much attention to my other birds he will immediately give a sharp nip. I always let him know that this unacceptable by putting him back in his cage. You always curb your birds unwanted behavior. Nevertheless I could not imagine life without my Snoopy. I love singing and talking to him. Sennies are very unique and special birds. My Snoppy waits for me to get off work since I arrive late at night. When I come home he looks so cute. I pick him and he immediately starts stretching his wings and legs. He gives a few yawns and then I sing our good night song to him. There are nights when he does not want go in his cage because he wants to stay with me. However I cover his cage immediately because parrots need lots of hours of sleep. I would not call my Snoopy aggressive but not all senegals are the same. When I picked out Snoopy between his siblings he seemed the most calm friendly one. His other siblings either seemed too aggressive or just displayed fear. I do agree with other bird owners that sennies should not be considered as first time birds. I also read that after they turn 1 years old they can become aggressive during their hormonal period. But I will found out around late November once Snoopy turns 1 year old. Nevertheless I love my Snoopy very much.

I fostered a Sennie for 8 months and i told people he was possesed by Satan. He was extremely loud only if you were near him. Its like he wanted to burst your ear drums. He would act all sweet and step up and then bite the blood out of me as soon as he was on my hand. I started trick training him to try to deter the bad behavior, and he did learn a few tricks. Even with target and trick training he would still just decide he liked the taste of blood better than a treat. He always wanted to go to shoulder and he bite a chunk out of my neck one day and ripped an earring out another day. If I was the only person home, he would sometimes be sweet and cuddly. He hated my hubby and would fly to attack him. He did go to a forever home ( all female household ) where they had 8 other birds, and he still bites but they were willing to tolerate the harsh bites. I'm relieved I was able to find him a home with someone who would allow him to be the bad boy he was, and love him anyways.

We too have a sennie, and when we first got him he couldn't stand the lady's husband, nor myself which is said seeing my wife bought him for me. took him about a 2 wks to get used to my wife n kids, and took a month b4 he'd even step up for me. now he's my lil buddy. i clean his cage, give him food and water, treats, install new perchs (when needed), and can even use the hose attachment from vaccuum in and around his cage without so much as a squawk outta him. But before we got him he'd bite an attack the other hubby if he was too close to his wife on the couch so they sold him to us. She good luck to us, but Zuzu did a full 360, he stays on my shoulder or dances hand to hand for me, whispers in my ear, licks my neck, even peeps n flaps his wings to let me know needs to go back to cage to do his duty then does a loud screech to say done and whoever can pick him back up. The only time he is nasty is if i wear a ballcap, then he'll scream, bite, hiss, growl and is pretty much upset with me, so i believe its all how he was brought up, take the hat off do a couple clicks and noises to him and he's back to lovey dovey for me.
