Household Cleaners safe for parrots?

Hello. Can anyone tell me what household cleaners, if any, are safe to use around parrots? Are cleaners containing oils, such as Orange Glo wood polish, safe? Should I be moving a parrot to a separate room every time i clean, dust, mop etc? Thanks in advance.

I use a solution of water + vinegar + a tbsp dawn soap for cages, perches, toys, kitchen top and sink. For the past 5 years, I clean the cages and perches everyday with this solution, no adverse side effetcs.

I use a bleach-based commercial cleaner (lysol) for the bathroom, kitchen floor making sure the birds are in another room and fans are blowing in/out of windows. Make sure to wait several hours before reintroducing the birds. As for wood polish, I don't use any so I can't comment on it's safety. Personally, because it leaves a lingering oily residue with chemicals and a strong smell, I stay away from it. Maybe there are safer alternatives.

I do the same thing. I move the bird to the porch or another room when I clean and wait several hours before bringing her back. The main cleaners I use in the house are windex, vinegar, dish soap and some type of bleach based cleaner for the bathrooms.

I never use wood polish either, but from having a cleaning business for years I know that it does leave a lingering smell. If you absolutely have to use it I would make sure you wipe it off really well and let it air out before bringing the bird back in. For dusting I just use a dry cloth or paper towels, works fine.

Most wood furniture does not need to be polished very often. A very slightly damp cloth removes dust no bother.

Please also remember no Teflon type pans for cooking, that is also toxic to them when the pans get hot. Candles and room fresheners can be bad too.

Can't help but notice you have a 28 year old sun conure. That's awesome! Do you have current photos / videos of him posted here or on other sites? Would love to see.
